Kyoto - Nishiki Market

2nd day into our Hankyu Pass.

Took the Hankyu Kyoto Line limited express from Minamikata to Karasuma (which should be 390yen for a 40 min ride) early in the morning. We arrrived at Nishiki Market too early so many of the shop were not open. We,, we did manage to get some weird souvenirs like cappuccino jam.

Then we passed by their wet market area and there was this stall selling some fried fish cake which was supposedly quite popular as they have been covered by local tv and stuffs. So we ordered somethings. The guy even gave us some free soup. Erm.....this is usually called 'service' in japan, when they give u something on the house.

One is fully fried and topped with seaweed while the other is boiled before being friend again.

Yummy!

So funny....he thought we came from the east side of Japan. Told him we came from Malaysia....not sure if he knows much about our country. hahaha.....

Continue walking until the end, which is quite short, you will see a shrine.

Turn right and exit.....then you will walk past potoncho which is their geisha street and only becomes lively at night.

Along Kawaramachi street

Potoncho

Continue walking and you will eventually reach kamogawa aka duck river. I remember passing by this river 3 years ago too while on the way to Heian Jingu from Toyota-shi. At kamogawa, you can see lots of sakuras......

We had to meet a friend at Demachiyanagi station and thus had to take the Keihan subway there from Gion-shijo (had to pay 210yen, pretty pricey for a short ride). First time on a Keihan subway~
