Universal Studios Japan

Day 5~!!

Initially wanted to visit the fish market before USJ but then we were too tired and also we wanted to arrive at USJ early because we heard that the queue would be long.

Quickly bought some onigiri and sushi rolls at the family mart before taking the subway from .....changing at Nishikujo to Universal City, where we saw this super cute USJ train. Sadly, our train was the normal and not the USJ one.

As with the concert, it's easy to tell which people are headed towards USJ....so you can just follow them if you are unsure where to go. Once you exit the station, you will arrive at Universal City Walk where there are many shops all around, including a Hard Rock Cafe and a Lawson which is packed with people buying snacks.

Universal City Walk

Didn't get a chance to try MOS burger :(

Finally~

At 8.30am, the queue was long and there were already many ppl in the park even though it the park was supposed to be open only at 9am. Though it was a Monday, the park was packed....probably because it was spring break for the school kids. Plus their new school year only start in Spring.

We immediately went for our first ride....JAWS! I've watched the movie before but cuzzie did not. I think we queued almost an hour for it but the ride was good. The acting was pretty realistic if you can understand japanese. If you don't, you'd probably be bored and wondered what's going on. No pictures allowed on many of the rides and queuing area, so not many photos were taken that day.

JAWS had more sharks than expected and they come in close proximity to the boat. The explosion was super real.....that part was kinda scary as you can really feel the heat from the flames. I think the ride is suitable for family. For those that are afraid that they might get wet, there are ponchos available for sale before the queue of all rides that involve water.

Choc Oreo Churros~ :D

Jurassic Park anyone? As we didn't wanna queue for long, we went as singles. We had to sit separately, but it was ok. At least it saves maybe 30-60min. This is a water boat ride that plunges from 29.5m, but before that you will pass be greeted by some dinosaurs. Please prepare a poncho as you will get wet in this ride. And remember to smile~ because they will snap you pic when you are looking at your worst.....screaming your lungs out. ^_^!!! I can't even see my face in the picture because the person sitting in front raised his hands up and blocked my face....lol

Next up is Back to the future~ Cool motion ride. I love these!!! Its like you get in a car and travel through space~! I think next time I will just buy the express booklet and go for all these rides!

Trying to act all smart here~

As the queues for some of the other rides were pretty long, we went for one with the shortest waiting time - Backdraft. Seriously had no idea what it was, only knew that it was some behind the scene thing. It was a little boring at first and tired as you had to stand. Every thing is explained in japanese. It's talking about the special effects used in movie, particularly in fire scenes. The final movie scene was amazing and super real that I got scared to.....don't remember if I screamed. But it was super real and everything is super close to you.....seriously salute all the actors who film in fire scenes.

Food again~ Potato pie?

Spotted WaT's hand print!!!

Spiderman!! Nice~ We also went as singles in this one. The queue was just slightly better than the normal. I thing it's my first time on a ride like this. I hope there are similar ones in Universal Studios Singapore too......wanna go there one day.

Saw this cute little stall and had to get a kare-pan!

Then it's Terminator 2:3D. The queue for this was long but they clear pretty quickly as it's something like a theatre show and the theatre can accomodate many people at one time. First we enter a hall where we met the most interesting character ever who interact with the audience just to get us going. She speaks like those funny and weird anime character......even moves like one. She's also a super sarcastic when she speaks!!! I was so shocked~ hahaha.....but this part is only nice if you can understand japanese.

The show itself was amazing. A first for me~ It's 3D but their transitions between the 3D and live action is very good. Then there are so many transformers around us that could move. At the end of the show, you will get a surprise too....gotta ride on it to find out! :P

Next up is the Space Fantasy Ride. An indoor roller coaster. I think we queued the longest for this one....out in the cold!! The line was so long that it snaked from under the tents, all the way out the side of the building before moving back into it. I think there was no single rider queue for this one as the queuing time was almost the same as normal. This was one of my fav~ whee.....spin spin spin and everything is sooo colourful~

Kitty-chan and I <3

Hollywood Dream Roller Coaster......contemplated for quite sometime before finally deciding to go for it. What!!! I'm scared ma~ but the queue was crazy at 3 hours for the Hollywood Dream and close to 4.5 hours for the Back Drop, which is the same ride as the Hollywood Dream but it is rode backwards.

Went in queue for about 30mins and then I got super hungry....so poor cuzzie had to leave the queue with me to grab some food.

We had turkey drumstick from Jurassic Park! Look at it's gigantic size.....

After that went on a Peppermint Patty's Stunt Slide. It's been a long time since we've rode on a water raft so it was nice. The best part was that we didn't really get that wet because we were already wet because of the rain and we had ponchos on.

Then onto the kids Flying Snoopy ride! hahaha.....nothing better to do.

Indoor part of the park

Hello Kitty's Cupcake Dream anyone? Super pink and cute!

Ok, back to the Hollywood Dream~ Thank goodness the queue is pretty short now. We got on the ride in about 30mins. Unlike other roller coaster, you have a selection of music for you to choose to listen to on the ride. I don't remember what song I chose but I quickly pressed the panel one seated. Cuzzie didn't press any buttons and hence, no song for her.

Thank goodness the ride very safe. Well, at least I feel safe when I'm on it.....but it was sooo scary! Totally screamed my lungs out~ Definitely the scariest ride I've ever been on but I'm glad that I went on it. No regrets at all. I'm thinking if I should try the Back Drop next time. It'll probably be a lot scarier as you can't see where the roller coaster will be heading.

I like how supportive  and sporting Japanese people are. Every time the Back-Drop ride passed us, people will be saying "Ganbatte~" and even for the normal forward ride, they will wave at the people on the ride while in queue.

How can we not take picture with this?

At first, we were thinking if it might be better to just get the express booklet because we knew that the queues would be long and we might not be able to go on much rides. But in the end, we managed to get on 11 rides. So it was worth it I guess.

It was kinda sad that we didn't get to catch any stage show....will definitely go back for them in future~

Then, off to the Takoyaki Museum we go!
