Xinbeitou, Yang Ming Shan & Danshui

After Taipei 101, we headed to Xinbeitou and along the way, this is what XQ played. Lol~ she named her virus after one of our course mate, which proved to be very good strategy for her game! That name has very strong "sat hei"/ killing energy.

Unfortunately for us, many of the attractions were closed when we were there, including this culture centre.

This is the iconic library in the area. We checked out the inside and it's definitely a nice place to study in~

Moving on~

Along this path, you will pass by many hot spring resort in the area.

We actually wanted to go to the free, open area to soak our feet. However, due to safety reasons, they have barricaded the area. :(

Continue walking and you will reach the Geothermal valley aka Hells valley, but unfortunately for us.....it was close too!!! What a day~!

So off we go to the Sulphur Valley~

It was super hot when we were there and there was a couple shooting their wedding pictures there!!

As this area is pretty secluded and we got there by bus, we had to wait for about 30 minutes before the next bus arrived. We were seriously contemplating hitch hiking but no car stopped for us...LOL~

Next stop was Yang Ming Shan~

XQ leading the way to the calla lily farm

This place is supposed to look amazing between March and April. According to XQ, this is a popular spot for wedding pictures too and when she was here the last time, a guy even proposed to his gf there.

Only thing was, we were there at the wrong season. hehehe....nonetheless, the view is not too bad.

See~

The calla lily being for the next harvest in 2015.

It was too hot and I needed something to cool off~ This is a locally made plum ice cream.

Spotted an interesting looking plant!

On the walk down, I spotted some pretty interesting stalls~

Looks kinda japanese influenced.

Next we travelled to Danshui where we caught another bus to the Fisherman's Wharf~

We were super lucky this time! Arrived in the nick of time to catch the sunset!!!

IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL~ That's the iconic Lovers Bridge.

The area was crazily packed with photographers and tourists who immediately disappeared within 5 minutes after the sun had set.

Slight purple tint in the sky after sunset, still pretty~ and best of all, no more crowds!

We wanted to cross the bridge but guess what? Yes, it was under renovation LOL~ so we only for to visit the shops nearby.

An artistic shot by XQ

There's an owl cafe in the area which was supposedly pretty popular.

This little fella scared me because it was initially looking at me and when the camera flashed, it turned it's head! No, it's not real~ just battery operated.

The owls are supposed to bring good luck~

Next, we had dinner at the famous Ah Gei for their fishballs and tofu meatball.

After dinner, we took a boat ride to the Danshui night market~ Omg, I super enjoyed this! The sky was dark and you get to see the colourful lightings on the bridge! We were standing outside, so we got to enjoy the cooling sea breeze. There were slight waves but nothing too turbulent.

Went to buy some paper thin pork snacks from this shop whose boss owned this cute little pup~

On the way back, XQ bought fried mushroom which gave us both sore throat the next day! hahaha.....

I think it's a pretty amazing feat to cover so many places in one day~! :D
