New years at Japan club

Shinnenkai at Japan Club Kuala Lumpur.

Last year, I went there with my jap classmates and sensei but this year, I went there with JM.

First off, we queued up for mochi!
They came in 3 different flavours....topped with red bean, kinako and seaweed.

We both hate mochi but we enjoyed this~ hehehe.....hence, we queued up for a second round!

There were many stalls there selling various jap snacks such as yakiniku, sushi, onigiri, kakigoori, etc.

First time trying ramune~ didn't even know how to open the bottle at first! hehehe.....such an interesting bottle design

The reason why I wanted to come back again this year was because of the Wadaiko performance. Love it so much~

Once again, I truly enjoyed the performace! Can't wait for the next one!

Hor hee noodles

Had hor hee noodles with my parents at Ipoh town. A first for me......at first I was like hor hee? What is that? Such a weird name. Turns out is like kuey teow noodle soup with some fish cakes and fish balls. Most important of all is that it is delicious.

Dinner at Yishensu, One utama

Met up with the girls and their partners for a pre-CNY dinner 2 weeks ago at Yishensu, One Utama.

It was the first time that we had Alex join us~

Since it was the first for all of us at this restaurant, we decided that we would each pick one dish to be shared among the 6 of us~

I absolutely love this dish! Cereal pumpkin!!! Such a wonderful combination!

Our vegetarian fish~ kekeke......

The gravy for this dish goes really well with rice~

Toufu~

Fried lotus root with a thick sweet sauce. Perfect match for white rice too~

Can't remember what was this final dish but it must've been another vegetarian meat.

Love the dishes here as everything was yummy~ Will definitely revisit this place again in the future!

Lou sang

Cny this year really doesn't feel much like cny to me. Maybe cuz in stuck here in genting....but luckily I had the opportunity  to lou sang with my friends before going to genting.

And thankfully I did because it's one of the things that I like. You group together with all your families and friends, then start tossing the contents of the plate while shouting well wishes! It's pretty fun. Plus I enjoy the sweet sour taste of the sauce on the crunchy shredded vegetables and keropok bits.

So pretty~!!

Here we go!!!

Yum~

Only 4 of us, but it was still a great pre-cny dinner.

Sunway pyramid bentoya

Had to go down from genting with several crew members to do some shopping on the 17th which was the day before the preview. What a hectic day that was.....We had to buy things for the stage, costume maintenance, props, wiring, as well as the actor's own personal items.

Walked past Asian avenue in pyramid while walking to Aeon when we all decided to have lunch. We were already hungry but was too busy shopping to make any stop.

Luckily they decided to stop at bentoya for lunch and I had this char siu ramen. Sadly, it wasn't that good and I was eating with japanese. At that moment, I wished that it would have ippudo instead.

Ipoh Chee Cheong Fun

Every time when we visit Ipoh, my parents would usually stop by Simee market to buy some groceries. And each time, my parents would stop by this little stall in the market for chee cheong fun.
Here it is! Little rolls of chee cheong fun with mangkuang wrapped in them, which is later topped with pig skin, drenched with curry sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds and deep fried onions. Not forgetting the pickled green chilli and long green beans on the sides too.

Missing this as I'm typing this out now. Spicy, salty, sweet and sour all working perfectly together.

Hokkaido Snacks

Received these snacks from Hokkaido as gifts from mum's friend.

First off is the best fruit gummy I've ever had. These lovely gummy came in the shape of the fruit that they each represent. Besides looking like the real thing, they also smell and taste great.

Every single time I open one, I will smell the fragrance and then enjoy the taste, flavour and texture of the gummy. :D

Next up is the Shiroikoibito which I think many people are familiar with.

Tada~! 2 lovely pieces of cookies with a layer of white chocolate in the middle is just heavenly~!

Oh and lastly, this little red packet here which contains little crispy prawn crackers that is packed full with flavours! Yum~ I love them so much~!!!

These above are definitely some snacks to look out for while in Hokkaido~!

Nana's Green Tea, 1 Utama

Desserts again at Nana's Green Tea at 1 Utama

My matcha anmitsu (RM16.80)

Of course I would order this because of the kuromitsu that I can drizzle all over my kanten jelly! kekeke.....and the lovely matcha ice cream. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the shiratama.

*drizzle drizzle drizzle*

Amanda's hoji shiratama parfait (RM18.80) with hoji bean paste, hoji ice cream and drizzled with hoji syrup~

A different kind of flavour from the green tea and I especially enjoy the hoji ice cream.

Serena Brasserie, InterContinental KL

It has almost become a ritual to meet up every Xmas for gift exchanges among us now.

This year we went for dinner buffet at Serena Brasserie, InterContinental KL.

Some pictures of the food we had.....this here was from seawitch's plate

More of what seawitch loves

Interesting combination~ The bread wasn't too bad and would go well with a nice bowl of soup. Unfortunately, my bowl of pumpkin soup was too sweet for my liking. But the cheese tasted great with the nuts

My plate of mains....not too bad actually. I enjoyed the chicken satay, chick peas, salmon in cream sauce and lamb.

The green curry chicken was good too.

My plate of desserts~ meringue pie, creme brulee, chocolate mousse, pear tart, chocolate cake.....which all tasted so-so only.

But luckily, they had ice cream too and a lovely home-made raspberry sherbet which I had 3 bowls of!

Next, it was time for gift exchanges!

Us with our gifts still in their wrappers~

Seawtich received Tham's gift, Tham got Jas', Jas for mine and I got mine from seawitch.

Time to reveal what the gifts were~

Everyone looked happy~ so they must be satisfied with their gifts! I know I am! hahaha.....I've been wanting to get myself a Starbucks tumbler~

Lastly, a collage that I made for the Xmas gathering~

Can't wait for the next one~!

Sri Nirwana Maju

Met up with PM and Amanda for a last minute catch-up before PM went back to Melb.

We had the chicken biryani set at Sri Nirwana Maju

It came with fried bitter gourd, some greens, cucumber salad and papadum. We also ordered a plate of fried squid to be shared among the 3 of us.

I've heard so much about this place from my friends but I've never visited the place before. The biryani was delicious~! Never thought I'd say this as I never liked bitter gourd, but I truly enjoyed the ones served at Nirwana! Another place to consider when I want to bring my friends for banana leaf rice in the future.

Oh, only now did I realise that we didn't get any rasam!
After that, we went to the nearby Tous Les Jours for drinks.

My red bean ice.....which was literally just red bean on top of shaved ice! hahahaha....

Well, it's not too bad to curb my craving for ice-chewing.

Can't wait for my trip to Melb so I can meet up with PM again!

Lorong Seratus, Taipan

More of penang food at Lorong Seratus, Taipan.

Clear noodle soup.

Prawn mee

Fried fritters with mango filling.

Chicken chop rice

Ice kacang special~

Last time when I used to attend dance classes nearby, I would frequent this shop almost every week with my dance instructor. It has been soooo long~ Their food is not too bad and decently priced.

Belated graduation celebration for seawitch

This was from a belated celebration for seawitch's graduation at Pasta Zanmai in Sunway Pyramid~

First off, some souvenirs from Jas from her UK trip.

Some interesting looking Kit Kat and FATFACE lip balm. Arigatou~ :D

Chicken teriyaki omurice

Seafood pasta

A tortilla sushi roll

There's supposed to be a hotate pizza but the picture was missing, I guess we were too hungry that we forgot to snap a picture.

A group pic~

Here's me doing my job of distributing food

It looks like seawitch was QC-ing on the portions

Lol~ but no worries, I'm very fair~!

We've gathered here so many times over the years!
Always a good place when we want to eat something japanese fusion food~
