Bubbles & Bites with parents

Lunch with my parents and Miss MC before I go back home for my first 3 days off at the end of February. Also a first proper meal with my parents in 2 weeks. Here's what we had.....

Lasagna

Beef steak

Sauce

Seafood pizza...always love a thin crusted pizza!

Carbonara Pizza

Then guess who dropped by while we were having lunch? hehee.....seems like mummy and daddy were especially enthusiastic to meet these special guests. :D

Who knew that right after this meal, I would start to feel un-well. I was suffering throughout the postgrad dinner that night and then ko-ed for the rest of the days. I was so sick that I couldn't even attend my bestie's wedding and I have purposedly took leave just to attend it. Must've been all that build up stressed......kekeke

Thank goodness that on the last day, when I was heading back to work, I was starting to feel better. With medication, I was able to work till night. :)

Home-made Bah Kut Teh

It was almost like Bah Kut Teh week for me 2 weeks ago. I have introduced ST san to this delicacy while he was here and before him and the crew left, I brought 10 packets of spice mix for those who are interested so that they could cook it back in Japan.

ST san who has been a fan of this dish ever since he first tried it sent me pictures of what he had made with japanese ingredients like aburaage instead of taufupok, but it looked amazing. So I was craving to have some too.....

Also, apparently dark soy sauce is not available in Japan....so it might make a great souvenir from Malaysia. Lol~

Then a few days later mummy cooked 1 huge pot!!! Not this small clay pot here.....That huge pot was enough to feed at least 20 people. So that means, I have been eating left overs for the next 2 days....hahaha, it's not that bad, as it's only repeating the same meal once a day.

Naturally, I had to snap some pics to show ST san how we Malaysians do it. e.g. with fried crullers and dark soy sauce with garlic. Also, I had to mess up the dish to show that we not only use ribs but also some internal organs, etc.

Lol....it's like showing, 'It's still best to have it here in Malaysia~!"

Tokyo Kitchen

Since our usual place was under renovation and we were craving for some japanese food, we went to Tokyo Kitchen which was newly opened in Sunway Pramid.

Sea witch said this was just so-so.....

Mine....pretty sad looking isn't it? The prawns just simply thrown on top and the ikura were all in a dehydrated state.

Our sad looking spider roll.....

Comparing that to the menu, it looks more like the california roll.

My first visit wasn't very good, but I thought I'd give it a second try anyway and it was the same. :(

It's safe to say that we won't be back for a third visit any time soon.

Tea break at Bubbles & Bites, Genting

Went to Bubbles & Bites for tea one day in between the shows with ST and Miss MC.

Here's what we ordered:

Pecan Tart
Kinda sweet, but I enjoyed the flavours. Would order it again the next time, but it's kinda too much for 1 person. Better to be shared so that you can try other things.

Apple crumble with vanilla ice cream
This only comes in Vanilla ice cream but it's packed full with apples~ This is good too!

ST had the lamb shank which I didn't get a picture of.

My tea partners~

It was nice and comfortable to dine with them. Our conversation mostly focused on food, especially the type of food that we enjoy. Also, on the fact that the girls eating without really exercising and that's not really healthy. ST was teasing that we're gonna be really fat!!

hehehee......I guess we just love food!

22/05/15 *Feeling determined*

After 1 whole week, I've finally made up my mind to reject the offer. Last year, when I applied for the fellow, it was all that I wanted! Though I didn't have high hopes after hearing that a friend had failed to get it the year before. Anyhow, I really wanted to go so I applied for it!

Finally when the results came out, I wasn't surprised that I didn't make it as they had mention that there were many highly-qualified applicants. However, they said that as my scores were close to those who were selected, I could be placed in the waiting list if I wanted to. Naturally, I jumped at the opportunity.

That opportunity finally came last week when I received an email, telling me that one participant had to pull out and hence, I was selected. I was extremely happy when I first saw the email......but that was short-lived.

....insufficient funding.....thesis....viva.....etc.......plus all the negative thoughts that started popping up in my head.....blame it on the hormones.....

Right now is truly a stressful time as I'm busy with my thesis. Moreover, the timeline for everything from here on is basically unknown. Plus my uni only has a 1 week notice for viva. Moreover, even for the corrections after that, my uni has a strict rule that it could only be done during office hours in uni.

Definitely not a good choice to have any plans to travel to anywhere...... I have been working on this for 5 years now, just a few more steps, I don't want to be distracted by any other things or cancel my travel plans later on. I have to place my priority in the right place!

This was definitely an amazing opportunity and I might not get another one if I miss this chance. But I believe that this will not be last one.....more opportunities like these will definitely come up again along my journey.

I may not have been the first-choice this round, but in the next round.....I will make sure that I am their first choice!!! It will make the trip worth that much more!!! *determined*

Häagen-Dazs

Decided to drop by Häagen-Dazs for ice cream one afternoon while shopping in 1U~

Mum and Dad~ hahaha....

Aunt and myself

Ordered the Seventh Heaven platter, which came with 7 scoops of ice cream, complete with a smoky liquid nitrogen effect~

It came with orchard fruits and drizzles of chocolate sauce.

Hehee....looks so good right? And tastes even better too!

We had the belgian chocolate, macadamia nut, mango & raspberry, salted caramel, chocolate midnight cookies and raspberry sorbet! Yummy~ :)

Underground Societe, Bandar Sunway

First visit to the Underground Societe~

Sea witch ordered a glass of house wine

As usual, I prefer tea~

Sea witch saw this dessert on her previous visit and ha been dying to try it. This is the Undergound Grenade which is essentially flambéed meringue over mint chocolate chip ice cream. All this while sea witch thought that it was green tea ice cream, so imagine our shock when we took our first bite!  hehehe.....~

This is how it looks like when you starts digging into it.

Well, mint flavoured ice cream and flambéed meringue is not really my kind of dessert. But this is definitely great for effect.

Ma Maison One Utama

Went to Ma Maison for some juicy tonkatsu for Dad's Bday.

As usual, we started off the meal with oroshi.

And some edamame.....

For mains, we had the tonkatsu set with miso...

...my favourite~ ebi!!!.....

....and the rosu tonkatsu~!

hehehe.....still trying to brain wash Daddy with tonkatsu, and it's working well! Lol~

Every set came with a bowl of rice, a mountain of shredded cabbaged, pickled radish and a bowl of tonjiru!

Always enjoy the sweet cabbages and the yummy tonjiru! :D

Dinner at Fong Lye

Dinner again with sea witch at Fong Lye, Sunway Pyramid.

The last time we came here was probably a year ago!

I think we ordered the exact same thing as we did the last time except for the appetiser. Previously we opted for the fried squid but this time, the classic potato balls!!

Love these chewy little balls~

We both each ordered a three cups chicken set~

Always love the main dish, but the 3 side dishes......no so! Didn't really enjoy any of them.

Yum~ sometimes you just like something that is hot and is strongly flavoured, that can go well with a bowl of warm rice! Plus I like that they included lots of ginger slices and garlic! hehehe.....stinky breath!

Jyu Raku, SS15

Went to Jyu Raku at SS15 one Sunday afternoon with Dad, which was rare as Dad doesn't really like Japanese food.

After a good experience here previously, I had to come back again.

Was craving for some good salmon sashimi so I ordered this sanshoku sashimi platter and added on a bowl of sushi rice.

A closer look at the salmon.....yummy~ Love the texture of it, especially the salmon belly!

Dad doesn't eat anything raw, so this is his order of a tendon lunch set which came with miso soup, chawan mushi and fruits. The tempura were lovely and Dad enjoyed his meal a lot! Another plus for trying to brain wash Dad into loving japanese food!

We also ordered a salmon teppanyaki to be shared. The salmon was ok, but I absolutely love the teppan cabbages! They were super sweet~!! This would really go well with a bowl of warm rice~!!!

Lastly, to wash everything down, a nice little ball of black sesame ice cream with red bean paste on top.
