Goodbye 2011

2011 has been a year filled with learning new skills, trying and failing to try again. Many things had not worked out as planned and all the set backs which led to tears being shed. If I were to give a score to all the years that I have lived, 2011 would definitely receive the lowest score as the worst year ever. It felt like the world is just against me in everything that I do. Not to mention failed experiments, work problems and stuffs but also road accidents. Not really road accidents but I've met several crazy drivers and had my cars scratched by them. The best part of it is that my car is not even moving at all in all the cases. It just happened and I'm like...."What~?" Never ever happened before in my 5-6 years of driving.

However, when there's good, there is also bad.....

Though I had to give up on a lot of things this year, I have learnt many new things too.

1. Time is a very important thing and it's something that one can never get enough of. Slack and you waste precious time that could be used for something important or at least in the planning. Lose it and you'll never gain it back no matter how hard to try to make up for it. Therefore, always set your priorities right. Also, the saying that "if you love someone, give them time" is really true. I truly appreciate time spent with friends and families....more so than ever.

2. Preserverance. I've said it many times before and will again. This year, I've learnt to preservere more that ever. Giving up and running away is easy but preserverance takes a lot of effort.

3. I'm glad that I took the time to visit old friends in Brunei early this year. I've been so busy and will be that I don't know when I can take another trip similar to this.

4. I'm thankful to have made new friends and to learn that somethings you can't just win them all. I'm also grateful for all the friends who have helped me, adviced me, just be there to listen and to guide me. To know that many others who have worked in groups end up not talking to each other makes me thankful that I've been able to remain in good relationship with those I've worked in groups with.

5. Rejection. To learn to accept rejection with a more open heart.

6. Public speaking. I had the chance to give a presentation in a hall full of professionals was a great experience and to have been praised for it was a plus. Besides that, this year, I've done more self presentation that ever.

7. Recently I got the chance to teach and guide someone personally with the work I'm doing and realised a new side of myself. I found that I can do one on one tutor really well. It helps to train my patience too. Though I have taught tuition years ago but this experience was different. Not sure if it's because I'm a female or because I've had some experience with ppl who teach half-heartedly, but I felt like there was a need to guide and take care of others. Well maybe it's just cause I got an easy person to work with. LOL~~

8. Though I didn't have enough time to study the entire syllabus, I'm happy that I took the JLPT exam even though I don't know if I will pass. But it is a small step to take to improve my japanese.

9. Prepare prepare prepare. Always prepare things in advance and to always to read instructions properly. It's always good to be well prepared.

10. My masters project is the biggest part of my life in 2011 and the one which I placed the most priority on. Really gave it my all......but results have not been promising with set backs here and there. I have known that this path would be difficult and I sort of have predicted it. One would think that all the mental preparation would have prepared me for this but when the real thing happens, the impact of the blow is much bigger. But I am glad that I took the step to take it up.

Good bye 2011~!!! and hello 2012~!!

For 2012, I can feel that things are going to change for the better though for the first few months, I will have to try really hard and there might be some hurdles. Yes, come here 2012. I can't wait for whatever great things you have installed for me. Please take good care of my and lead me on to a shiny 2013!!!

継続は力なり

The above literally translates to:

Perseverance is strength

Preserverance is a big thing because I felt that not many people can preservere. It's easy to take on new challenges and to let it go, but preserverance takes quite an effort. I love to try new things when I'm feeling adventurous. I've tried many things while young but also gave up quite easily.

Japanese is one thing that I have presevered with. The other is dance. I guess interest also played a role....heehe...

Yea, though I know that it is important to preservere, there are time when I thought that if enough is enough. Do I still want to preservere even when things have gone badly for so long or to give up? To give up on something after so long is not really what I would have done. But the thought of not getting anything out of this after a few years of preserverance is killing me!

Time, money and effort. Time is the main priority because lost time can never be chased back. Money is secondary because in a way time is money. Effort comes last because effort comes from within and there is nothing wrong with giving it your all everything you do something even if it will fail because you've tried your best. Yes, so time is definitely something that I fear to lose.

Rather than "time = money", I feel that "right timing = right opportunity".

Well, if you've noticed, I have deleted about half of the number of posts that I used to have. I'll continue to clear some of the old posts that I no longer want there.

It's been four years since I started using this blog, ever since Lina created it for me. I just saw that the very first post was made on 23.07.07.

I saw that many of my first few posts were NEWS related before I started to include more about TVXQ. Lol.....I did really like both groups back then, especially NEWS which I continue to blog about even until now.

Well, I did like them for like the longest time ever and even back in 2007, I had a post where I claiming that it was my dream to attend a NEWS concert (even though a japanese concert has always been my dream, but to attend a NEWS concert was my no. 1). haaha.....that was still one of my biggest wish till recently. After so many years of wanting to attend it......but now it will never come true. :(

After screening through some of my oldest posts, I could see that my posts remain pretty much the same: sharing about things that I like.....such as music, dance, food, japan and science. Of course, every now and then I would be complaining about some stuffs that bugged me or some bad days.

It's quite sad to delete some of the posts actually because it's like tearing pages off your diary and burning them. But this is after all and online blog and there are things that I want to keep private.

I had initially thought of closing up this blog or password protecting it. But then I have decided to keep it. :) There are many things that I have shared here that I want to remain as it is, which is why I have resorted to deleting posts that I no longer want instead.

On the side note, I really like this necklace that Taipi always wears. This cute little apple with a little golden heart-shaped indentation is an original from LV. It looks absolutely amazing and so is the price!!!

I love it because it looks classy and it is fashionable. Red and gold just go so well together. You can even use it as a charm on your bracelet if you don't want to wear it on your neck.

There's a saying, "You are the apple of my eye"....... yea and this pendant gives me the feeling of , "Apple of my heart"! hahaha......I feel that this would make a meaningful gift for someone that you love.

I always like the accessories that Taipi wears......it's almost like we have similar tastes in jewelleries. I like "things" which symbolises "love" and the necklaces that he wears just seem like that to me.

You changed your hairstyle soon after entering Kisumai and have been having various styles but all with a side long bang until this year, where you chopped off your long hair and fringe.

Then as with every other Johnny, there is a moment in time when you all opt for the super blonde hair with slight perm. I don't know why, but you all just do!

One thing I would like to know is that how did Taipi's voice change from being sooo high-pitched to how it is now. Is it because of all the rapping? or did your voice just broke late? But can a guy's voice still break after he turn 16?

Reading Pi's latest interview made me felt ashamed for blaming Pi for wanting to chase his dream. To add on to that, Pi being my fav. artist for so long.....(Though at present, Taipi is giving Yamapi a good run for his money. Yes, Taipi is a guy with wise words. The things he says......never cease to make me reflect on things that I do.)

After reading this excerpt, it sort of reminded me why I like Pi and why I enjoy reading his nikki.

"I guess everyone would have known from the earlier reports, I opted out from NEWS. I only have one life-time, if it's possible, I would like to challenge different things. Even though it's easier to work in the 6-member team, I just can't continue to immerse myself in that sort of comfort zone. Initially when I brought up this matter to the other members, they try to keep me in the group. But in the end, they understood my decision. One day before the release of "Thank you for these 8 years" message, I sent each one of them a mail. All because of the experiences I've gained in NEWS, I am who I am today. As a result, they replied with "Looking forward to the new Yamapi". Although our paths will be different from now onwards, whatever we've built up will not change. To the fans of NEWS, I'm really sorry. In order to make up for this, I want to give my best bringing good work to everyone. These are what I've been thinking of now."

It was really selfish of me because I love NEWS and placed all the blame on Pi and Ryo.

I totally agree with his statement that we only have this one life-time. I live thinking like this too....that in life, there's so many things that I want to do and try, if only there was more time....but time is limited and there is only me. So in life, we have to prioritize certain things while we let go of others. Those that we let go of may not be the one that we do not cherish or want but it's just that there is so much one can do. In order to achieve the greater dream, sacrifices would have to be made.

Yes, and regarding the comfort zone too. I believe that people are afraid of changes because they are too comfortable in their little zone and no prevent oneself from falling into that is to put yourself out there to face new challenges. I am one who can get a little too comfortable in her zone which is why I like to take up and try new things but nothing too extreme!!

I understand that in life there may be dreams that we want to chase which others might not agree too or think it's pointless. As hard as it already is, it gets even tougher when those around you do not support you. But in this life time, we are living our life for ourselves and no one else. Therefore, once you have made the decision to move forward, you will have to keep trying and trying till you succeed. Many obstacles may come along the way but experience and enjoy the journey. When the day you have been waiting for finally comes, all the hardships will be worth it.

Pi being who he is discussed this with the members of NEWS and it seems he knew if his weaknesses and agree on the fact that being in a group could be plus point for him. But he has decided that it is time to go solo to see how much he can achieve. Well, he has been practicing dance real hard, his guitar and hopefully...he's back to composing some new songs which we will hear soon. I think knowing the fact that this will be the path of no return, he will have to really push his limits. Same as Jin, no place for them to fall back on should they fail.

This is their sanshoku don which is part of their special menu for autumn. I guess it's called san because there's 3 main orange/red ingredients representing autumn served on rice. Yes....uni, ikura and kani. I love love love ikura~!! This is pricey though because of the uni......at RM48.

This is the fish appetiser....

I think Rakuzen, by far served the best sakura chirashi don....compared to the other 2 super dining restaurants: Zen and Hokkaido Ichiba, under the same group. Look at the evenly slices sashimi which are reasonably thick. Yea....the sashimi all looked fresh too and everything is well presented.

This is their grilled items set which came with....spring onions, mushrooms, prawn, fish, chicken and beef. I think this set would be great for those who ordered sake. Good to try, but I don't think I'll order this again.

I'm soo tired!! Just came back from 2 hours of badminton. It's been years....since I last played. Like ever since I came back to Malaysia, I've only played it once when I was in uni.

Feels great to be playing it again~

When I changed my playing arm, others thought that my arm was tired but it was because of the blister on my thumb!!! So horrible la....how am I going to pipette tomorrow??? Why is it that I'm the only one who ends up with a blister???

Ok, after some thought...I have decided not to purchase Kisumai's DVD because I simply cannot afford it as it costs around 350. Since I've already decided to go to their concert in SG next year. I will save up for that instead.

Well even if I want to go really badly, it all depends on my schedule next year and whether or not I can get the tickets.

I'm counting on the fact that it seems like Kisumai is not that popular in SG yet and so...fingers crossed.....there won't be that many ppl fighting for tixs. Yea, unlike Pi's concert tixs which sold out like hot cakes.....they were sold out before I even had the time to react. Aahh~

Yup, but then other JE fans might attend the concert too to show that there is market there so that other JE groups will have their concerts there too in future.

:) Please.....may luck be on my side next year so that I can get to go.

Ah, tomorrow is the release date for <“Kis-My-Ft ni Aeru de Show Vol.3” & “Kis-My-Ft2 Debut Tour 2011 Everybody Go” Special Set> whcih includes clips from their concert at Yoyogi National Gymnasium from February 12, 2011 and debut tour at Yokohama Arena from July 31, 2011. It also includes a 52 page special photo book.

Not so into the photobook but the concert DVD!!!
Ok...I'm was already tempted to get set No.1!!! But it's sooo expensive! Omg~ and today I got super tempted after I saw clips from the debut concert~

I'm guessing that the stage, visuals and props will not be as amazing as NEWS or Arashi's concert since Kisumai is still new but I'm pretty sure the show would not disappoint. These guys can sing and give a great performance.

Plus, I LOVE ALL THEIR SONGS~!!! ooo.....how how how~

LOL.....seriously, I love this show! Every episode, they will test out various "myths" or "rumours" to see if they are true or not. They also have the scientific part at the end.

For those who love unagi, you might consider trying these....worms too!!! heehe

Taipi and Tama-chan are so cute. They love unagi so much that they want to have another bite before allowing the staffs to remove it. Both are soo daring to try it. Tama tried it first but I swear his lips shivered when he saw Taipi shoving them into his mouth. Lol...and tama was telling Taipi to eat more in one bite so that he can really taste it!!!

Taipi's hair is getting longer. I'm guessing that he's trying to keep it long again now that ikemen desu ne filming are over. I really miss his long hair and I know I'll miss this short cut of his too when that time comes.

It's been so long since seawitch and I went to Pasta Zanmai for our week night dinner outings....there's really too many new outlets to try. Every now and then a new eatery pops up.

So here's what we had.....

Seafood Mentaiko Pasta

Cream sauce pasta with mountain veges or something....

As always, the pastas are good and al dente. But other restaurants are also serving up some tough competition.

I can't wait for Kisumai's concert DVD to be out in October!! What's more is Kisumai's Asian tour which doesn't involve Malaysia. But yea.....at least they are touring outside of Japan. In Japan alone, they will be touring 47 perfectures with 97 shows. I think that's the most shows ever....

Yea, been blogging a lot about Kisumai lately because it's like after so many years.....and then YES!!

I'm biased but Taipi and Kitayama can both sing so well~ As a group, Kisumai is strong vocally and can dance really well. The members all have pretty bold voices. Tama-chan's one is quite low though. Looking at his face, you'd think that he'd have a high-pitched voice haha. Taipi could hit the highest and his rap~!!! He's my favourite J-rapper! Besides Arashi and NEWS, they're the group with the most number of songs that I like. Plus the rap part in Kisumai's songs are always amazing!!!! I love rappers~!!

I still get confused between Kitayama and Taipi's voice. I want to know who's singing parts that I like the most.....but sometimes their voices are similar!!!

Besides that, they can all act after having years of experience on stage plays which I think are so much harder than acting in dramas or movies. If a star is good enough, it will be hard for him/ her to do well in a stage play.

On stage, you only have one go.....you either make or break it! On film, you can have as many retakes as you like. When things are live, you have to give it your all to be perfect at that moment and convince the audience.....which you can't if you don't really act it out well. I fell that when it comes to films, looks often plays a huge part.

Every time I watch Kisumai's perf, I feel that Taipi has great musicality because he hits all the beats!~ Even when it's just like interval music, he's on beat. But sometimes he has what I call the lazy movement. Yea....and he can't really breakdance? kekee.....I don't know, but that's the feeling I get. But no fear, since Senga and Nika can take care of the stunts! Well, the best dancer in the group is Senga anyways, seeing that he's been trained in street dance even before he entered Johnny's.

Ok, I'm so bad....here's a pic. Look at Senga and Tamamori fly in mid-air (the 2 black things in the middle). On the side are Yokoo and Taipi. One of Taipi's hand reached the ground first before his feet lifted off the ground. Meanwhile Senga and Tama-chan literally flew in mid-air before landing on their hands.

See how he landed his second hand which is the one holding the mic. Kitayama does the same thing too.....with their FISTS!! Doesn't it hurt?

Yes, but Taipi did the landing part gracefully. He even does a nice wave on the floor before coming up!

Ok.....Then there's Yokoo....after watching his performance on Playzone 2009, I think he'd do well on stage plays. The same with Miyata. People with many or big expressions tend to do well or better. They're more convincing. I feel that Miyata really helps the group in terms of image. He's more funnny, which helps push the group away from the same category as Kattun's sexy image. Taipi tends to do the sexy thing a lot. Tama-chan used to be the cutesy one but now I'm totally changing my mind.

Ever since he dyed his air all black and lost his fringe, he looks like another person. And Taipi too......they both look like another person. Back to Tama, after watching him in Ikemen desu ne, I thought that he can really act and can definitely make it big as an actor.

So yea, with an average of more than 10 years in performing on stage individually and 7 years as a group. They're more than well-equipped for the entertainment industry. Besides, they can do everything a normal group can do but on ROLLERSKATES!!

I love Kisumai....but there's something I've gotta say.......

All these while they've been having similar costumes.....note: similar but not same. Sometimes, costumes is biased towards the front 3 members with extra bling and stuffs.....but overall, similar!!

Observe......these costumes from shounen club this year. This one is particularly recent as you can see Taipi with short hair for Ikemen desu ne.

After the announcement of their debut. They look like some high class waiters here......hehe.....

Note the similar costumes? It has always been like that on Shounen club and in their concerts.

But why is it that on Music Station.....there is such a huge difference in costume between the front 3 and back 4 members?? Ok...so the colour is different, but does it have to be the same as the back dancers??? Omg...and look at the ending pose! If I'm not a Kisumai fan, I might think that the group has only 3 members.....

Dunno whose idea is it......In the long run, when the group gains more fan....they can no longer isolate the back 4 members. This is after all a group!

Went to Marche about 3 months back with the girls....truly had fun, dressing up, just sitting down, enjoying the food and having a good chat! as supposed to sweating it out in the studio.....

Weekends are always soo tiring for me because there's always so much to do.

Was in the lab for 3 hours yesterday then I rushed home to shower and change. Went to the japanese library to renew my membership, then went to midvalley for my uni gathering. After which I had another gathering at night......my day started at 5.30am and I slept at only at nearly 2am last night.....

Coincidentally, today is also the 12th anniversary of Arashi.......which I really didn't know till today, even though Arashi is my 2nd favourite group from JE!

HAPPY 12TH ANNIVERSARY TO ARASHI!!

I guess Arashi is the only group that didn't start out as Jr. since they were transferred from another company into JE. Like NEWS, I really like their songs and if you listen carefully, you'll realize that they're really meaningful.

Though Matsujun is hugely popular, he has not yet been my fav. from the group. I think it started with Ohno, then to Sho, Aiba and then Nino.....haaha.....but I like all of them!

Since it's both NEWS and Arashi's anniversary, what better what than to share moments of them together. I took these gifs from NEWStalgia.

I recently bought Arashi's 10-11 Tour SCENE- "Kimi to boku no miteiru fukei-stadium" and I wanna say that it's AMAZING! Ok, first off is the stage.....omg, the waterfall?? and is there anything that can't move on that stage?? Seriously, if you wanna be a johnny's, you really can't have fear of heights! I get nervous, every time I look at how high the artist have to stand or be suspended in mid-air!!!

The concert's great too...the venue is super huge, I wonder if it accommodates more than Dome because it seems like it. Arashi looks like ants from the far end. But the pace is really good, for a moment I thought they fast forwarded the first few songs, but then it's not. It really helps bring out the hype!! Plus the sky itself is cool....from day light to sunset and then the dark sky!

Yes and all these concert craze started with the first JE concert DVD that I have......10 years ago?? That was when I was drawn into all the "shows" and additional props used for their concerts. hehee.....

"Happy Bath Day"

My fav. JE group is turning 8. So happy for them...their journey may not have been smooth but working hard and taking time to get to each stage is not a bad thing. Like slowly moving towards their 1st album or 1st Tokyo dome concert.

NEWS might not have released singles as often as other artists or even get together as often, but that's ok. Cause when they do get together, they produce something great!

I have always wanted to go to a NEWS concert because if you've watched their concert DVD, you will see the big smile on their faces that totally reaches out to the fans. Yea, and it's sort of the overall feeling form the group. Most importanly, I love their songs. So far, I've only bought one conert DVD, if possible, I would collect all their concert DVDs.

Fans have been planning a special present for NEWS 8th anniversary and that is to make their 2007 single "Hoshi wo mezashite(Aim for the stars)" No.1 in sales again. I guess that single was chosen because it was the 1st new single by the "reborned" 6-member NEWS after their long hiatus. Plus also because of the meaning lyrics. This is one of my favourite too...

And.....the fans did it! It got to No.1 even before the actual anniversary date!! Omedetou~

On the side note, Tegomasu is coming out with a new album called "Tagomasu no mahou (Tegomasu's magic)" on October 19.

Apparently, it seems that he wants to add a few members and get things rolling in 2012. From the looks of it, they might get pushed overseas too. Oooo......I'm excited because there has been too many older and talented Jr that have not been debuted, while unfortunately those younger ones had got their chance....

Yes, but first, wouldn't it be better to bring the more successful debuted groups overseas for concerts? When is NEWS gonna have their chance?? Come to to Malaysia~~~

Here are 2 vids from Bistro SMAP .......

The videos features all the groups that have debuted from JE since the very beginning.

My first exposure to JE was Kinki Kids and V6 .......their CDs are one of the first few japanese CD's I have bought, definitely a first from JE. But at that time, I didn't know what JE was. Though after that I knew some of their older groups like SMAP and Tokio, but I wasn't into them.

Then I discovered Shounen Club on NHK one night.......kekeke......well, I still didn't know that those dancing and singing boys were under JE till years later.

Not sure if my first exposure to Tackey was from Shounen Club but he has somehow always been a familiar face and Yamapi too. At the time when I started watching Shounen Club, he should've already been on it. At that time I didn't know japanese and most definitely know the names of those on the show. But I have a really old VCD of a Johnny's concert.....not sure if it was summary and Tackey was sort of like the leader of the juniors at that time and Pi was definitely there with Toma. oh.......soooo long ago. Everyone was still chibi-size then.

One day, I saw the news of NEWS debuting on TV and thought the awkward looking dark skinned, tall blonde guy in shorts looking familiar. No matter how I look at him, he still looks weird but I just can't get my eyes off him. It's like....a familiar face...and yet not. That awkward looking guy turned out to be Yamapi~ ^_^!!

For all that I know, Kat-tun has always been familiar to be because they are a unit in Shounen Club, unlike NEWS which is not. So for me I have always felt that Kat-tun was around for a much longer time. Imagine the sort of confusion I had when news came out saying that Kat-tun was going to debut. In my heart, I was thinking, isn't this group already debuted....and for years already??? heehe......it was from there that I found out how things worked in JE.

Before that I had always thought that all those units were "debuted" groups, didn't know that one had to wait for a CD debut in order to "debut".

Somehow years later....Arashi and NEWS are my fav.!

It is sad that the original units which the members were initially from had to be broken in order to form NEWS and I'm sad that Toma didn't get his debut. But NEWS is one of my fav. now and so are all the members......*sigh*

Ok, I've seen the flying and water stage during Tackey's play. But in combi with that huge stage backdrop....woohoo~ so many johnny juniors! Kawaii~

But the most amazing part is the performances!! The whole circus theme thing was amazing...from trapeez act to tight rope walking, then the drums and sword play and my 2 sons turning into smurfs!!!

Poor Yamada, he has inherited my fear for heights. Look at the poor boy's face while he's up in the air. Lol...reminds me of NEWS's concert where they opened their concert by flying down the middle of the arena which scared both Koyama and Shige to death~

To be a Johnny, you've gotta be physically fit to perform all the acrobatic acts and also be brave enough to try anything....

I don't know about you, but I super excited for it~ at first, I thought that I would have to go to Japan or Taiwan....and then I saw Thailand and Singapore!!!! My hope went UP and then dropped.....where's Malaysia?? Yea, ok I know people here are super kpopfied.....but there are ppl like me here too who loves JPOP!!! JPOP rocks~~

Ok, anyways....here are the proposed concert locations: Korea, Taiwan, HK, Thailand and Singapore!

I super duper regretted the fact that I missed Pi's concert in Thailand...but it wasn't like I didn't try. I couldn't get the tickets!!!! With Pi's popularity, it's expected that his tixs would be sold out fast......

Bobalicious Smoothies

Seawitch bought some online coupons for bobalicious smoothies and here's what we got.

A smoothie each with a choice of pasta.

It was too long ago that I can't even remember what they're called......this is supposed to be some passion fruit smoothie.....

...and this is chocolate banana.....

The smoothies were ok. Actually, if it weren't for the coupons, I would not have tried the shop. The name didn't quite capture me. At first glance, I thought it was babo-licious....erm (stupid-licious). haaha...cuz babo means stupid in korean.

This is the spaghetti bolognese which is ok.....

This here is the better one....spicy thai chilli pasta with almond flakes. An thai-twist to the pasta, with an extra kick from the chilli. Ooo...not forgetting the crunchy almonds too. Yum~

Last week, the postgraduates all have some kind of marketing shooting to do where we were asked some questions about the course and campus. My section was shot at the lakeside which is one of my fav. spots on campus and there's ducks swimming around! There's even impromtu actors behind me, who were students nearby feeding the ducks and the cameraman thought that it would be nice if they could feed the ducks right behind me! Lol.....

Then the next day we had to do some library shots.....us picking and reading books, having discussion and stuffs. hehee...I find it funny. I'm pretty sure at the end of it, you can probably only see my face for like 2 seconds only!!!

The cameraman said that we don't seem like we're from the science stream because we're good in acting and that we look more like we're from the media courses. erm......well, I don't what to say but just laugh~ haahaa....

Cupcakes

These cupcakes were from months back at SJ's family day. I was there to support some dancers who performed there.

A fellow dancer's sister rented a booth there selling mini cupcakes for people to DIY the deco themselves.

So theses 2 are my work. This is a yet to be fully open rose...with white and pink hearts.

This is a opened rose. The green dinosaurs were supossed tp be leaves and the choc-chips?? just cuz I like them....hahahaa.

*tired* I've been spending nearly 12 hours per day at uni the past four days due to all the workshops and my own work. Hope my own work will yield some good results which will enable me to move on. :)

Animals~

Today was the second day of the workshop......had to really work with the animals after learning how to restrain them yesterday.

We had to deal with mouse, rats and guinea pigs.

First of all was to use to use the oral gavage on them. This I had no problem, just gently insert the feeding tube down their esophagus, to their stomach.

Next is to anesthesize them. I chose the intraperitoneal method as shown below. I'm no so pro to use my bare hands, I hand the help of my self made restrainer from yesterday to help me.

Then it was retro-orbital bleeding, which was to draw blood from their eyes. Omg~ I just could get myself to do it. I tried after seeing everyone do it but then it felt so cruel. Yes I know, I have anesthesize the mouse but.....

Yea I tried till I saw a tiny speck of blood and ok, that's it...I'm not taking any blood. I just need to learn the method, not gonna use the blood anyways.

Then it's cardiac puncture which I also settled at first try on the mouse. :D

Once the anesthesia has worn off, my mouse was moving around normally, which is good.

Then it was time for the rat which is btw a lot bigger than a mouse.

OMG, it was soo hard to anesthesize the rat using intravenous method via it's tail. I poked it numerous time....I got the vein a few time but the rat struggled too much. I eventually felt so bad that I decided to let the rat go so that I won't hurt it anymore.

Hence, I did not perform anymore techniques on them. I didn't think it would be nice to keep poking them. Imagine someone poking you with a needle, how would you like it??

As for the guinea pig, the closest thing I got to doing was holding and covering them with a towel.

The most traumatizing part has got the be the cervical dislocation to kill the mouse/ rats. I shiver every time I hear the crack. There is no way I would be able to do it.....

Overall the workshop has been very valueable and I've learnt a lot about animals. It has also helped me with my fear of mouse and rats. Another interesting part is the post mortem as its my first time seeing it performed live.

Thank you to all the animals who have assisted in this workshop. I kept talking to them to try to get them to follow my instructions. For now, I think I will stick to cell culture....yea, definitely!!

I love egg tarts! esp when the the tart is those flaky kinds....

Omg,..I'm so worried, I signed up for an animal workshop tomorrow. The thing is I'm very afraid of animals and those who know me will know that I prefer to stay in a safety zone of more than 1 metre form any animals. But I thought it was time to face my fear, who knows that in future I might need to work with animals ....though I most probably won't pick up such projects. Anyways, I signed up for the workshop.

There's a series of lecture tomorrow morning which I will be missing due to some shooting that I have to do, uh~ bummer!!! Then in the afternoon will be the practical. Besides the fear, having no experience at all and I'm going to miss the lecture. I don't how am I going to survive in the practical. Mind you, if I'm not mistaken we're all each given a few lab animals to handle.

Ahh...and yes it is cruel, I don't know if I will be able to kill anything. I hope that I won't have to do anything of that sort.....

OMG~ Just praying hard that I will be able to pick up the animal and like....at least give it something......

Yes....another back to back post on kisumai!

I was watching an old Kis-my-ft2 abake clip back in 2009 and then I found a new one from just a few weeks ago.

I miss seeing them all 7 together equally, rather than focusing only on certain members. Though Kitayama and Taipi has always have lots of attention, Tama-chan is really getting lots of screen shots recently. This could be because of the drama and his new hairstyle.

Funniest part was when Kitayama and Tama-chan rapped Taipi's part in Firebeat!! Lol....and Taipi looking all blur and lost when he thought that he heard Miyata's voice on stage.

Muahaha...I really shouldnt be watching so many videos, but I love the Abake corner on Shounen Club!!!

I'm so happy for kisumai and I love the MV because it showcased their style with the roller skates. Dancing with them is what they do best! Yea~ Kisumai's style~

Though from Johnny's, Kisumai made their debut under Avex!!

The PV seems to focus only on 3 members: Kitayama, Fujigaya and Tamamori.

Not that I have any complaints, since my favourite member is Taipi, followed by Kitayama!! Ok, Tamamori is an eye-candy too.....

Kitayama is as charismatic as usual in the PV and I've always liked his voice. And, omg...Taipi is H.O.T!!!

I prefer Taipi's hair now, which is a shorter and darker than his usual.

Tama-chan looks erm....more bad-boyish and more mature with his new dark hair. I've only seen him in blonde-ish hair before and his face used to look cutesy and chubby. Don't know if he lost weight, but his face looks slimer now. haaha......

I think I'm the kind of person who likes to give myself treats......a little bit too often. haaha...

Like when I went for medical check up and got a shot recently, then I treated myself with famous amos cookies.

Then the other day, after working hard for a presentation, I went and got myself 2 scoops of BR ice cream.

Then there were other times when I thought work was too stressful and I needed something to cheer me up so I went to RT and bought myself a cheese cake!

I nearly got into an accident on wednesday while driving near my office area.

I was driving on a one way street when suddenly a grey colour proton flew out from my left, between the shop lots, into my lane directly facing me. At the time I was just about to pass that gap between the shop lots when the car flew out and I quickly swerved right.

Luckily for it was 8.40am and the parking lot on the right is still empty except for that one car on my immediate front which I nearly knocked into and the driver was standing next to his car. Naturally I had to brake immediately!!!

And that stupid driver braked too, but his whole car body was already 80% facing the opposite direction, going in the wrong way!!!

Sometimes idiots do things which are.....stupendously stupid? Not that it was awesome in anyway....but amazing in a way that you don't think that anyone can be more stupid than that.

Lucky the other guy that was who out of his car is a bit far from me. He was taking things out from his car boot and I stopped on the right side of his car boot!

1. If you want to take a small route from between the shops, at least stop and look before you go.

2. Has it ever occurred to you that nobody drives in the opposite direction from the white arrows on the road.

3. Since you parked your car directly below the office, I assume that you work there and take the same illegal route everyday. And you've been very lucky that you have not met a truck or something!! Please use your brain and think.....would it hurt you to take the 50 metre extra longer route??? I take it every time!!

I was so tempted to walk to you car and stick a note filled with my feelings at that moment!!!

4. If you want to die, just jump off a building. It will be easier and less trouble for others!!! Seriously~ think of the other innocent man!!!

5. Since we work nearby, don't let me bump into you doing the same action again! It's gonna be ugly~

Ok, the pineapple fried rice below is very random but yeah, went to this Viet restaurant at uni and since I don't eat beef....there's not much choices for me. Sadly this dish was overpriced and didn't taste nice at all.

Revisited!!

The fresh pasta was so good that seawitch and I revisited the place just 1 week after our 1st visit!

This is the seafood chowder! Yum~ good for sharing among friends since the portion is huge....otherwise, you won't have space for other delicious food.....

Smoked salmon salad with capers....omg~~ yummeh~ I love the smoked salmon!!! Ooooo..........love love love this!!!

Fresh alfungi pasta....I forgot what's the name of this pasta but it's like wonton skins. Really thin and smooth. The sauce is kinda mild compared to last week's one but it's good too. We only hoped that it has more sauce.

Yea......such a perfect course for someone like me...who likes science and loves food!! haaha.....but I'm like 5 years too late for it!

Look at these cute little bubbles.....don't you just wanna put one in your mouth??? Don't they remind you of chewy little bubbles or those popping balls that pops in our mouth??

Well it's exactly that....but unfortunately, the one above is inedible because of the sodium chloride we used. But the gum powder used is totally edible.

When we found out that the one of our classmate's dad opened a Japanese restaurant, we were eager to visit the place.

Coincidentally, the set dinner date was also another classmate's ROM. :)

It was a nice gathering for us together with sensei.

This is the "Oyako don" which literally translates to "Parent and child" haaha....well d "parent" is from the chicken and d "child" from the egg. Such creative names!!!

There's supposed to be an interesting name for the pork and egg combo too but I just can't remember the name at the moment.... :P

Hopefully it had been a good one.

Though I personally felt that my presentation skills had to be improved as I stumbled upon a few words due to the nervousness.

Having presented to a much larger crowd and also having give speech in another language to the native speakers before, one would think presenting to a small group of 10 is nothing. But I feel that when the presentation is one that matters and counts, you'd get nervous. It's like you want to do well so that you don't let other ppl down or let urself down.

Also, note to self to read more for QnA. I was asked a question by an ex-lecturer who taught me about a pharmacologic action and I couldn't answer him at that moment, but after everything was over.....the answer just popped into my head!!! He taught me on that related topic during my undergrad years and I felt like I have been such a let down!!! Argh~~

I did presentation at my company's launch before to a huge crowd of doctors but because the topic was not something that is this personal and thus I felt no attachment to it. Plus I was thinking, it's probably a group of doctors who wouldn't care less for what a young gal like me who only has a degree has to say. So I couldn't be bothered too much to care as I thought that everyone would probably leave for toilet break when it's my turn to present. But I was wrong, they listened. Whether it was the prep before hand or that fact that I thought ppl wouldn't care or judge me from it that I was less stressed and therefore I performed better.

Oh well, a yummy strawberry cake always helps make the day better and its time to move on to the next thing on my list.

My lab mates have been telling me about this new Italian restaurant in Sunway Pyramid that serves great pastas in huge portion.

So naturally, I had been wanting to try it.

*ching ching* opportunity came when seawitch invited me for Fast & Furious 5.

Great movie btw, even though I have not watched the first 4! haahaa.....Vin Diesel is hot~!!! Oh and the cars too!!!

Ok, it turns out that Capricciosa is an italian restaurant from Japan!!! Is is opened by ....and has been around since 1978! They have about restaurants world wide!! Wow~ (and I found out about all of this only after googgling it! haaha....

Reason: When we entered the restaurant, I saw a sign in japanese that read "Italian food". And I kept wondering why would an italian restaurant have a japanese sign!!!???

Love the salad, the waiters even provided us with cold plates for the salad. And he came to ask us if we wanted pepper.

Since my mind was fully focused on to the salad, I didn't really hear what he said. After the salad, I realised that we have pepper on out table and I wondered why did he came to ask us if we wanted pepper when we could have added it ourselves.

Seawitch said that the waiter specificalyl mentioned, "FRESHLY GROUNDED PEPPER".

Love this pasta dish.

It's freshly made fettucine with smoked salmon in creamy tomato sauce. Ooo......love the saltyness of the smoked salmon with the smooth creamy sauce!!!

Sora....one of the earliest friends I've made in Malaysia by randomly talking to her at KJ lrt station as we were both wearing red fc t-shirts. Since then, she has been a great friend.

We met up almost every weekend because of fc gatherings and we soon started dancing together too. These eventually lead to sleep overs and hang outs.

But soon, it was more that just that...she was a great friend.

Years has passed and it's now time for her to chase her dream. Mine too~ both our new journey came at about the same time.

She's leaving to Malacca to persue a course in make-up artist. So all the best to her!

P/S: do I get a free make-up session, Sora??

Met up with Sora before she left and we had dinner at Gong Fu Restaurant, located at The Strand, Kota Damansara.

This is a very chinese restaurant........from the dishes that they serve.

This is super good and I've never had anything like this. This "chu chang fen" has been pre pan fried with omelette, before wrapping and thus is really fragrant.

Gyouzas. Yummy~ perfect skin and pan fried to perfection. I love a place that serves good gyouzas.

Steamed pork rice. This, on the other hand, is a let down. When we entered the restaurant, we smelled really yummy stuffs and figured that it was the steamed rice. But maybe we just ordered the wrong dish. This dish would be perfect if there was a little more sauced and if the rice is a lil' burnt.

They serve some chinese desserts too....but we wanted to go somewhere else.....

.....and we went to "Tian Ping Keke" which is a hk dessert place at Sunway Damansara, just opposite The Strand. This is a first for me.

This is mine, black sesame and re bean soup with lotus seed.

Yummeh~ We could have just came here for dinner in the first place and I could have had more dessert!! haaha....

This is sooo good. I love love love black sesame soup then red bean and green bean soup....and I love lotus seeds. There were toooooo many different combos to choose from. But alas, eventually I had to pick only 1.

Yup, would definitely be back here for more desserts.

Personally, I prefer this place to snow flakes......because I don't really like the chewy stuffs that they give and there's not much choices there. The ice dessert would be great if there wasn't any sticky and chewy stuffs. And their "tau fu fa" is horrible. Any market place serves a better one.

Went out 2 weeks ago with my dance instructor/ dance mate/ great friend.

We were supposed to go for kroean bbq but then since it was mother's day, they don't serve for 2 plus we didn't make reservations. So we went to Empire shopping gallery and the only place that could have us was Italiannies.....thier high table meant for drinking, to be exact.

:) nonetheless, we took it!

Fried calamari salad. Love love love the crunchy calamari!!! and I discovered that artichoke hearts are really tasty!!! I'll definitely have this salad again.

Seafood pasta. I forgot the actual name because this is the less memorable dish. In fact, it was below average, we left about more than half of it.

Dessert was great! Yummy creme bruleee~!!! So much better than the one I had at full house. Love the crunchy caramelised sugar on top and the sweet, smooth creme at the bottom.

I really enjoyed the great chit-chat session.

Can't wait for the next outing.....

Was at summit for a performance like....a month ago~ heehe...and we had taiwanese food for dinner.

This is "Ru rou fan" = braised meat rice, which is a common dish in most taiwanese restaurants.

Beef ball soup. hmm... looks really oily.

My noodles....forgot what it's called but it tasted only so-so......I prefer Xian Ding Wei or Din Tai Fung.

Their famous tiramisu cake! yummylicious! Love the caramelised sugar sprinkled on top of the cake and the texture of it. Plus the sauce...ooo~ it leaves you wanting more.

This is my favourite dessert!! Their chocolate tarte with macadamia nuts! Mmmm the rich chocolate with smooth texture, matched with crunchy roasted macadamia! Ahhh.....heaven~~ I absolutely love this!!! Would definitely revisit the place for this!!!

I think this is the raspberry cheesecake if I'm not mistaken! It's not bad too, better than the average cheese ckae out there. Love the texture!~

Right~ lesson learnt: Trust food blogs when they say that the food is not nice. haahaa.....but oh well, we won't know till we've actually tried it.

Use this sign to show that things are running smoothly. When you wanna call a waiter, just switch it to the red sign saying "Stop forest Stop" and the waiter will come to your table.

We ordered their smoothies and quenchers. Nice and refreshing~~plus they come in attractive colours which are obviously food colourings.

A wide array of main dishes featuring shrimps

Shrimper's heaven with 4 different types of shrimp and fries on the side. Good for sharing with friends.

"I'm stuffed" Shrimp. Absolutely love this dish....the rich cream sauce with shrimp and the piece of garlic toast! Yummy~

For dessert, our ice cream cake. A really huge one....and it took me much strength to cut it into 4 equal pieces.

It's funny how I never liked McD vanilla ice cream. Yes I never ever buy the vanilla sundae cone.

I used to only eat the Mcflurry. And I used to wonder why ppl bother buying their boring o' sundae cone when there's nothing special about it. I prefer ice cream that comes in strong, rich flavours with nuts, choc chips or fruit pieces. And come to think of it, I think just the plain whiteness of the it has something to do with the way I judge it. heehe.....

Then I don't know when....maybe since last year or the year before, I started to crave for McD ice cream....especially after sweating it out in dance class.

A nice cold ice cream sundae is like 'the reward' for having worked hard in class. haaha.....

Anyways...I still don't like the plain sundae, I normally prefer those that are drenched in hot chocolate fudge or comes with other condiments.

In recently years, they've comed up with new and seasonal flavours such as this mango and peach. yes.....refreshing~ but in my heart....there is still nothing the beats warm-gooey-chocolate fudge!!! ahh......heaven~~

Went for a food tasting and this is what they prepared for 3 person.

The food is definitely more that enough to feed more than 3 but they wouldn't allow any more than that.

The presentation and services were impeccable during the food tasting.

Sadly, the same could not be said for the actual event.

I love this dish so much!! Smoked salmon with assorted seafoods such as prawns, squids and mussels.

Forgot what this is called but it tastes horrible. The crunchy bread wasn't that crunchy.

This is definitely one othe the best cheese cake I've ever had.....yes, this tear drop shaped macadamia cheese cake. I was sooo looking forward to it during the actual event, but unfortunately it just could not be compared to the one at the food tasting. Something must have went wrong somewhere.

I would definitely want to have this cake again.....

Some creme de.....something. Looks great but not my kind of dessert, except for the strawberries heeehee.....

Chocolate mousse. I normally prefer thick, fudgy, super rich chocolate cake so mousse is not really my kind of thing. This mousse cake has a consistency of a pudding, with back sesame seeds. Didn't really like this.

Assorted buns.

Prawn curry. Tasted good.

Vegetables curry.....horrible!! The flavour of the curry was not absorbed by the veges at all. This was one of the dishes with the most left over after the event.

Grilled chicken with mushrooms. Love the smooth texture of the chicken, really tender.

I like this mediterranean soup, with loads of seafood in a tomato based soup topped with pesto sauce.......but my colleagues thought otherwise and changed it to mushroom soup instead. ^_^!!

I now know why people always say that food served at food tastings always tastes better than the actual.

Lunch on campus.

My first ever risotto.....ya i know it looks erm...a bit disgusting. The taste was only so-so.

This "Permanent Head Damage" guy (get it???) from another dept asked me how was my work and I said..."well, it's going ok".

Then he said, "Wait, you're doing masters only right?? That's nothing!!! You only have to do subjects!" I was like....."I don't have subjects.....I'm doing research".

"No, you have subjects......" *with his nose up high in the air*

Seriously, do you think I have nothing better to do than try to convince you to believe that I don't have subjects except for lectures?

I would really appreciate it if he never talk to me ever again in all our lectures. I have enough things on my hand without annoying people getting on my nerves.

I've been getting teary a lot lately esp. whenever I see news about the Japan earthquake.

I was just looking some pictures of the post-earthquake pictures.....many of the the survivors were looking for their missing family members while others went back to their homes (or what's left of it, if it has not been swept away by thte tsunami) to look for family pictures. Those who did not have any pictures could only walk on foot and search by word of mouth.

Then it hit me, if one day....(touch wood) something similar happens to you....what would you have with you. It's natural that everytime we leave home we would have our wallets with us. Our wallet!!!

Unconciously I reached for my wallet and "found" that I do have a family picture in it. :)

At Venus Fort, you can shop around in the shopping centre freely with your pets provided that they are toilet trained.

All the dogs that I saw are super well trained. They don't even bark or try to sniff around.

A small little meet up with 2 my of cousins who will be going to Australia at Paddington house of Pancake.

Plain pancakes with peach sauce and strawberry ice cream. It comes with maple syrup for you to pour over the yummy pancakes.

A very chocolaty dish....orea pancakes with chocolate ice cream, marshmellows and strawberries, drizzled with chocolate syrup.

Rolled chocolate crepe served with chocolate ice cream and syrup.

Hmmm....can never say no to a yummylicious dessert~

This is Hello Kitty's Kawaii Paradise which just opened last year.

It is located in Venus Fort, Odaiba.

Making the trip to Odaiba was really a great choice because I got to see really beautiful views and I entered 3 different hello kitty stores!!!

Some pictures of the flood in johore area

Snapped these pics of the flood from my phone during cny while going to johore.

We had to take a huge detour because the the roads have been badly flooded.

You can only see the top of the trees....not only trees, but also roofs of houses too. It's really a bad timing esp when it happened a few days prior to cny.

Even though the flood has subsided in some area but you can still see the effects from it. Many shops remained closed and you can see the owners busy cleaning the shops on the first day of cny, trying to sweep away the mud. People threw away furnitures and electrical equipments.

And petrol stations had to close down too. See the kiosk at the petrol station?? The huge glass broken and the goods inside gone.

It's really sad cuz while we were happily celebrating cny and collecting red packets. Others have lost so many things due the floods and even their homes.

Was really happy when I found out that MOF opened a branch in Sunway Pyramid because I've heard that they serve very delicious deserts. After visiting the the place once for dessert, I've decided to revisit to try some of their mains.

And boy, were we disappointed~!!!

This pasta was.....horrible....

So is this one.....

...and this one. This was actually the best out of the 3! Their pastas are too soft and the the way they were cooked....was just bad.

This is the best main of the night. I guess you can never go wrong with unagi.

Thankgoodness the desserts were good!!!

Their ice cream are made from Hokkaido milk so that's a plus. This below here comes with red bean paste and hot fried potatoes. yummy~

This last one here a a bit sad due to it's "small" size!! but it's still good.

Overall, I would definitely come back for desserts but not for any mains.
