Huge temple in Tachikawa

A colleague brought me to the temple that she frequents in Tachikawa.

The view was amazing because of the sakura trees.

Can't get enough of the good weather and beautiful flowers.

There were many benches around and you can see many families having a picnic outside.

There were several interesting statues here and I particularly like this one here.

After that, we met up with K and head to Ikea for lunch.

Can never get enough of the food at Ikea. Cheap and good quality!

The mash potatoes was superb! The cheesecake was my colleagues and I took a bite of it. It as good too. This chocolate chip cookie here was slightly too sweet for me but it was still good.

After chit-chatting for a while, I had to go for a second round. I got these 2 items here.

The chocolate biscotti was yummy but small.

My absolute favourite. I think I might buy some frozen ones to reheat at home next time.

After all that food, we decided to head towards the station for some kushikatsu.

Eating Japan -Bread series 5

1. Styleone Chocolate Tart

This is really good because the chocolate melts instantly in your mouth and it has bitter chocolate chips in it.

2. Family Mart's mini red bean bun

A go to for me when I need something that's convenient. I love bringing this onto night buses with me as mid night snacks too!

3. Bo-LoGne original danish in maple flavour

I spotted this at a departmental store in Osaka and they said that they were famous for their danish bread so I had to buy one to try. As they were not that cheap and I've never tried them before, I only bought 1 pack.

I toasted them in my oven and I can smell the maple~ The danish bread was super good! I regretted buying only a pack of 2. The next time I see this, I'm going to buy more flavours!

4. Yamasaki Cookie Danish

I love danish bread....can't help but buy one whenever I spot one. This one here is cheap and yummy.

5. Caramel nut danish

Love this so much, that I bought 2 more after this one here. Love that the danish is light and the chocolate caramel coating on top, together with the nuts made it crunchy!

6. Family Mart's strawberry churokki

Churokki....is a churros and cookie combo if I'm not mistaken. This churros is twisted into a heart shape and is covered with starwberry cream and sprinkles. Kinda like the crunchy texture.

7. Kari Kari Baton in Honey & Sesame

Love these crunchy sticks......makes really good snacks while watching youtube.

8. Family Mart's Cookie Choux

My zeitaku na afternoon snack to reward myself after a full day of teaching. Premium sweets from Family Mart's the best. I like how thick the custard is and the crunchy cookie top of the choux pastry.

9. Ham cheese mayo

Bought this in a haste when I needed a quick snack one day. Simple and good, though I'd probably make it myself next time. 

10. Chocolate roll cake

I like how Aeon has good roll cakes amongst their selection. Rich, moist, convenient and cheap. :)

Sushi Ro

First time at Sushi Ro and I was surprised by their big menu!

They offered many different sushis and even if you do not eat raw fish, fear not.....they offered cooked seafood, meat and veg options too.

Here are some of the dishes that I had and they were all good. 

Plus it was really cheap too....most of them are only 100 yen per plate. I will definitely return again for more.

Sakura at Meguro and 果実園 リーベル 目黒店

Mish and I dropped by Kajitsuen, near Meguro station for dinner one night after work as we wanted to check out the Sakura at Meguro.

I checked Tabelog to see if there were any interesting shops in that area and found that this was the most popular shop in that area for cakes.

True enough, when we arrive there was a queue outside the restaurant.

I ordered their 4 kinds of berries cake that included strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and black berries at 1480yen before tax. Definitely the most expensive fruit cake I've ever had in my life! 

But the cake was good as the sponge cake at the bottom was light and fluffy, and the cream was not that sweet.

After dinner, we walked along the river from Meguro to Naka-meguro.

I was happy because the sakura was pretty and as I've been here last year, it was during the day.

Sakura was pretty weird this year as many predicted that full bloom would be the week before, but it did not happen.

While it started blooming early this year, full bloom was late.

So pretty~

Even after the petals have fallen, they still looked pretty.

Can't get enough of the fallen petals.

Beautiful place for an evening stroll.

This is one of the most common sakura tree in Japan - somei yoshino (ソメイヨシノ).

おでん かしみん (Oden Kashimin) at Marunouchi

Summary of the first week of April.

Dinner with Mish at Oden Kashimin (おでん かしみん), which is one of my favourite restaurant in Marunouchi.

Counter seat this time and we got a good view of the oden pot.

Casis orange (650 yen) and the otoushi which is like an appetiser that you can't reject. Most izakaya charges a certain fee for every customer and in return, they provide a small dish. Here, the charge is 500 yen per pax.

The soup is the same chicken based soup used in the oden but with and added grilled chicken wing. You get to taste their rich chicken broth with the added fragrant from the grilled chicken wing. While the konbu in it has lost all it's flavour into the soup, it was still tasty.

Bacon and cheese (480 yen)

Daikon (290 yen). The picture above showed 1/2 of the daikon. As it was big, they cut it into half for us. The best oden daikon you will ever get in Tokyo!!! They even provide tororo konbu for you.

Also, the broth that they used had a hint of yuzu as you can see from the picture above, there's a small piece of yuzu rind on the daikon.

This here again is another way to enjoy their chicken broth. This is the tsukune (300 yen)! Absolutely delicious and classy~
