Cousin's day out

Finally a cousin's day out!

YL and I went to the Gardens for Nyonya food at Nyonya Colours.

These here are fried cucur~ Love these while I was in college.

A wide variety of nyonya kuih~

Which to choose?

My order of nasi pulut~

mmmmm......yummy~

Finally.....ASAM LAKSA~!!!! sweet, sour, spicy, umami........ALL IN ONE! :DDD

Sooo good~!!! I love that they gave har go too.

Mak Chuk dessert~ kinda sweet but still good, nom nom nom....

NASI LEMAK~!!! Miss this soooo much~!!! :D

I miss the fragrant santan rice with sambal, ikan bilis and rendang chicken.

After that, we went for desserts at cousin's friend's place and ordered this yuzu chocolate cake and another coconut dessert.

While the flavour was interesting, I didn't really enjoy the consistency of the chocolate cream on top. But the base at the bottom was really good! Meanwhile, the coconut dessert.....that's sherbet or whatever it is on top was too hard! We had to poke it really hard with the fork before we could cut it!

The beautiful choux pastry were free for YL and they were delicious. I especially like the green tea one.

On the way back, we passed by this cake shop that sell cakes that look like a whole durian fruit!

Lol......doesn't it look like the real thing? I wonder how's the taste.

Canton-i, Gardens

Had brunch at Canton-i with a friend.

I was really happy to have GOOD dim sum again~

Fried carrot cake~!!! Nom nom nom

Char siew bao.....which nikuman is very common in Japan, I've not had one in this 10 months. But, nothing beats a char siew bao~

Salted egg yolk custard bun~ the best steamed bun in the world!!! Highly recommended! I love the ones from Canton-i because of the beautiful purple and white swirls!

Siu mai~

Cute little red bean buns.......or should I say cute little pigs!

Dim sum aside, CURLY FRIES! :D These curly fries come out near CNY every year and I enjoy them because they're crunchy and curly :D

Other than all the yummy goodies I've been having outside, I also get mummy's delicious home cooked food. <3

My favourite prawns <3  Big tiger prawns <3

Steamed fish with a spicy chilli sauce on top~ <3 I love seafood but I seldom have them in Japan, except for in sushi.

And I got red bean soup with dango too on Dong Zhi or Winter Solstice, a festival that coincides with the Japanese one In Japan, it is said that if you take a Yuzu bath on this day, you will not catch a cold.

Char Siew Bao

Chee cheong fun wrapped fried fritters

After that, we went for some local desserts at Jonker Sweets

My pick of cendol looks pretty sad.....and it didn't taste that good too.

M's ice kacang looks equally as sad......

That will probably be our last visit hahaha......

As if all those food wasn't enough, we headed to TWG for tea! Thumbs up to the staff who served us because he was patient while explaining the different teas to us.
