New beginnings

October was definitely a challenging month where I had to learn to adapt quickly in 2 new environments and this crazy mix of emotions in myself as well.

A friend whom I felt close to seemed to be faced with some sort of troubles and frustration and I thought that I was the cause of it because of some things that we had talked about recently and also because my friend started to feel distant. I was upset because I didn't want to bring sadness to anyone that I cared about and thought that it'd be better to distant myself too in hopes that things would get better for my friend. But I guess in my confused state with all the mixed feelings, my emotions got the better of me. I did eventually apologize for being harsh but I guess there are somethings that you cannot take back.

Living with another person proved harder than I thought. It was my first time and I had no experience before that. I had to really learn how to just let things go and to communicate better.

Changing jobs and being in a completely new environment is also a challenge. I had to learn to work in a different work environment that uses Japanese. I came across all the things that I had heard about before from friends and got to experience them first hand. While I have prepared myself mentally for it, experiencing those things first hand was still shocking.

In Oct, I was glad that I had been honest with my own feelings and spoke what was truly on my mind even though my appreciation for the friendship wasn't reciprocated. I felt better after speaking about my thoughts. I'm hoping that being true to myself is a sign of becoming more mature. I hope that in future, I could meet people who could speak their mind and honestly to me too.

At the same time, I was really glad to have friends around me whom I could talk to about anything. I'm really thankful to have them by my side to listen to my troubles and just offer me support.

Also, I had some nice food escapades. Like discovering a nice sushi restaurant near my office...... It's a place I could visit to reward myself every once in a while. heehee...

Also, it was nice to catch up with T-san again after so long. It was also nice to discover Yokohama station for the first time. It was definitely an interesting place that  deserves more visits in the future.

While things have changed drastically for me in Oct and I've been troubled by mixed emotions, I'm hoping that these experiences had helped me to grow to become a better person.

I hope that things will get better from now.

Mish's bday

Early in the morning, I had these lovely bread that C gave me last night for breakfast and unpack some more before heading out.

Really love bread from Kobeya~

The girls and I met up to celebrate Mish's bday.

Love this cheese and focaccia dish so much because the cheese was hot and went really well with the olive oil and focaccia.

We also had pasta, which was ok.

And this yummy scallop risotto.

To end the meal, we had this walnut crumble dessert.

After that, we found ourselves in another restaurant for more food!

We played some games while we waited for the food to arrive and the food was surprisingly good.

I love their potato salad and nachos.

This mozzarealla, tomato and avocado dish here was really good too even though I'm not a fan of avocados.

At night, I tried this interesting premium morning milk tea which is transparent in colour but tastes like teh tarik~!!! Definitely an interesting drink that's worth introducing friends to.

Moving Day~

Went to grab Sushi after I was done packing and still had some time left before the movers arrive.

I really enjoy the sushi here.

It's actually my first time here alone.

I get this pumpkin tempura every time I visit. It's super good and I always forget to order the sauce.

This place is always crowded. So glad that I arrived before the lunch crowd.

I really like their salmon cheese with mayo and basil sauce.

And this here is my fav dessert there. Some sort of frozen creme brulee~

After that, the movers arrive and moved all my things to my new place. Unfortunately, they can't bring me so I took the train to my new place and waited for them to arrive.

After spending several hours unpacking, C dropped by to grab dinner with me. I was truly thankful to be able to grab dinner with a friend because I felt lonely and scared in a new place.

We grabbed sushi at the restaurant near my place and the food was yummy.

C had sake.

We both ordered the sushi set which looked like this.

We also ordered a few other dishes to share. This is the katsuo.

My first time trying kazunoko......not a fan of this!

This baked seafood here is amazing~!!! Super flavourful and smells amazing~!!! Gotta come back for more.

To end the meal, we had tamago yaki.

After that, we went exploring around the area and found several interesting shops.

Goodbye~

End of Sept and it's time to say goodbye~

Before my last day, I grabbed dinner with K at one of my favourite restaurant! I ordered my ususal course set which came with this appetiser platter and warm bread.

K ordered their mini pizza and it was delicious~!!!

Super happy that I got to eat this salmon and mushroom dish again before I move! Who knows when my next visit will be.

On my last day at work, my colleagues treated me to lunch at a restaurant nearby. I'm happy to be able to revisit this hamburger restaurant too before I move.

I got a beautifully hand-written cards and gifts from my students and colleagues. I'm really gonna miss my students because they are the only reason why I'm there teaching. They make everyday fun. It's just really nice to have a bunch of students who really enjoy your lessons, pay attention to you and respect you. I truly feel that there is no job that's more fulfilling than being a teacher. Maybe one day, when I am a mother and have my own children, I will go back to teaching.

First visit

Brought Mish to visit our apartment for the first time near end of Sept. We arrived early, to grab lunch at the sushi place nearby before going to the apartment.

Really happy to be having a kaiten sushi place nearby.

This was the most convenient apartment out of the three that I visited.

And I'm really glad that I picked this because it's just a lot more convenient to pick an apartment which many shops nearby.

After lunch, we went to the apartment and decided to go buy some cleaning materials to do some cleaning before we move in.

After cleaning, we went to grab early dinner at a chinese restaurant near the station before heading back home.

It's gonna be the first time I'm living with another person so I'm looking forward to it.

Random happenings

I bought this juice from Ginza Six. I've always wondered how this taste and decided to buy one when Mum and dad visited. It's actually very sweet and you can really feel the orange flavour. It's supposed to be all natural so I'm really amazed at how sweet it is.

hahah...snapped this in class when my students weren't looking. I found it super cute that they've circled my name and wrote special next to it!

Met up with T san and the others after about 8 months since we last saw each other!!! So happy to see them again! They're always so nice and T san always treat me to a nice meal every time I see him in Tokyo. This time we had tonkatsu in Hikarie, Shibuya.

After that, we moved to another restaurant to grab some dessert while we waited for K san to arrive.

I'm really thankful to have met T san and to be able to work with him previously.

The next day, I went for chinese food with C and Yh at Ikebukuro as Yh and I were both craving for fried pumpkin coated with salted egg yolk!

While the food was really good, I was extremely shock to find the the restaurant actually serves dog meat and so does the previously chinese restaurant! So it's safe to say that I'm not gonna revisit.

This dish has an interesting name- kou sui chi, which means saliva chicken hahaha....

Yh has been craving for peking duck and so we ordered a duck dish too!

This here is my fav garlic shrimp~!

Only three of us and we ordered 5 dishes, including porridge!

After that we went to look at some game arcade in the area which was a pretty eye opening experience for me as I've never really explored one like this before. And then we grabbed some desserts at Sunshine city.

The desserts were lovely and it was nice to catch up with everyone.

After tea, Yh and I went for shabu-shabu dinner.

As if we have not had enough food, we ordered the buffet course!
