Hang Li Poh Well

Hang Li Poh Well (Perigi Raja)

Built in 1459 by the followers of Hang Li Poh who is a Chinese princess who married the Sultan of Malacca. The well supposedly never dried up during days of old and was the only source of water supply during great droughts.

According to history, the well was poisoned in 1511 to rid the place of enemies before being closed in 1677 by the Dutch. Well, it seems that it is now a wishing well...

As with other tourists, we came, we snapped and we left! hehee....

Nadaje Mille Crepe

Before I went to Malacca, I have already read many food blogs featuring this little shop in Malacca called Nadaje which is famous for their mille crepe cakes.

We had to queue for about an hour before we got a seat but it was all worth it .....look at our seating area!! :D heehe.....

The crepes~ there's more actually. Can't remember their names but they were good. However, it's something that meant to be shared with friends. You'll get stuffed pretty quickly as it is filled with cream.

Really like this chandelier above us~ hehe...

With everyone~ So classy...

Durian Cendol

Durian cendol at San Shu Gong in Jonker street.

Here's where we queue up to buy food and drinks.

Their most famous dish is this......hehe, not everyone can stomach it but definitely a taste of heaven for those who love durians.

The shop lots in the area are really old as you can see from their built.....the long and narrow shops with really high ceilings. Some even have random hallways or stairs that are connected to nowhere as they are no longer in use.

The place was really packed. Being the pampered us, we needed air-conditioning!! and we were lucky enough to get a table by the counter.

Trying to pose with 2 cendols. The packaging is really cute, guess its for easy handling....of just for marketing purposes to differentiate themselves from so many others in the area who serve the same thing.

An upclose pic~

Unfortunately, this one looks a bit disgusting and sad. The paper bowl was only half filled and it definitely look nothing like the one advertised on the bunting.

Overall, it was a good first time for me as I've never tried durian cendol before. However, I still prefer the normal cendol~

Coconut Shake

Mama and Daddy Ong brought us to this place called Klebang Coconut Shake, where they're supposed to serve really good coconut shake.

Was really excited as I never had any coconut shake before~

Ta-da~ Behold the coconut shake topped with vanilla ice cream!!!

Yummy ice blended coconut, really refreshing on a hot day!

The pretty ladies~

If you are in a rush, you can even take away the coconut shake at a road-side stall right along the main road before the actual shop.

Oh...and this here is the Straits of Malacca which Jeremy called "a sea". Thus, prompting me to call it the South China Sea. How was I to know that Malacca was actually on the other side of the Peninsula facing Sumatra!!! ^_^!

St. Paul's Church and Dutch Graveyard

Back to our Malacca trip~

Walk-walk-walk~

Climbed a lot of stairs that day! Thank goodness the way down was not the same as the way up.....otherwise, I won't be able to come down!! Ok, maybe only for me. But yea, when I was climbing up the stairs, I thought that there was no way that I could climb down those uneven and high steps that had no railing or what-so-ever for support....

Well, at least you get a nice view from the top.

At the top of the hill is the Saint Paul's Church, which was used by the Dutch into a burial ground for their noble dead.

There were so many people up here which seemed to be from the same group. Since they spoke in Japanese, I presumed that they must be student's from some university, visiting Malacca to learn about the history??

That's the thing about being the camera person, they are always missing from the group picture. hahaha....

Shy love birds behind the umbrella. *ahem* I wonder what were they doing.......

On the way down, we passed by the Dutch graveyard.

Oh.....and this way down actually had proper stairs with railings to hold on to! Phew~

Art shop in malacca

After our tour of the jonker street as we tracked further away into one of the small alleys, we passed by this very artistic looking wall.

On the other side is actually a shop selling t-shirts with prints designed by a local artist (I think). No pictures allowed so I didn't take any, but they have some really cool t-shirts. Great for souvenirs.

Here are some pictures. Interesting huh?

Makko Nyonya Food

On our second day, we had lunch at Makko Nyonya Restaurant.

They must be very popular because when I googled them, they even have their one website.

haha.....before meal time, we must always snap a picture of all the food!

This is a view of Mama Ong distributing the duck soup for all her children. Every thing on the table was ordered by Mama Ong...hehe....trust her to order all the right things. The rest of us just have to wait and eat~!

I really like the cendol here! I think it's the best I had in Malacca.

The nyonya food here is good and I think I will return here again for the food and the cendol~~~ (if only I can find my way there).
