Thai food

I had been missing the taste of fried fritters with white coffee. The weirdest thing is that I don’t even drink coffee. But I guess sometimes you crave for things that you can’t have.

This chee cheong fun stall at Simee market is a must visit for my family. We stop by for some curry chee cheong fun that has sa kok in them, topped with pig skin and drizzled with curry sauce. Highly recommend this style of chee cheong fun.

After breakfast in Ipoh, we drove back to KL.

Later that afternoon, I went for lunch with my ex-dance mates.

The food was delicious and we had a great time catching up.

This fish here is the best dish of the meal. Super flavourful and I like how it's topped with lots of peanuts.

We also ordered the tom yum which was spicy but sooo good.

Egg was normal and we also had a stir fried veg with roast pork which was pretty normal in terms of taste.

Famous coconut bun in Ipoh

There’s this famous coconut bun shop in Ipoh that is sold from a house shop.

I love their coconut buns. The bread itself is fluffy and holds it’s shape, while the coconut filling itself is fragrant and not too sweet.

Later that night, we went out for dinner again.

Cousin was craving for char siew so she got a small platter which I also stole from cuz I've been missing them too.

Fruit rojak~ doesn't look good but tastes good.

sotong~

And lastly, my favourite. Vege popiah.....this is seriously the best I've ever had. I always come for some when I'm back in Ipoh!!

Assam House

In the morning, we went to a local kopitiam for breakfast and surprisingly, they serve some dim sum items too like this flaky looking char stew sou and fried prawn fritter. Both were absolutely delicious.

I had the prawn mee as my main dish and it was delicious. It’s been too long since I had one!

We then walked past a shop that sells random chinese herbs and I spotted these interesting goods in there.

It was my first time seeing all these.

Later in the afternoon, we went to Assam House for dinner.

Menu:

As it was near CNY, I specifically requested for this!!! It's been 3 years since I had lou sang.

Food here is always good~!

These are Malaysian dishes and carries some kick to them due to the spices used.

Paku here is one of ym fav. I never really liked it as a child but I've grown to love it!

Pandan chicken was huge! A lot bigger than most restaurants. Piping hot and super yummy~

We always end a meal with a nice bowl of cendol there. The cendol is handmade and is topped with delicious gula melaka.

Fei Bo, Ipoh

Earlier in the day, I went for breakfast with Daddy and we had curry mee!

At noon, we went for our must have in Ipoh, which is cendol~! Missed this so much,

A relative of ours found this old picture of my grandparents and their children. It's the first time I'm seeing the younger version of my uncles and aunties. And my grandparents looked so different from how I remembered them to be.

For dinner, we went to Fei Bo, which is place that serves lots of great dishes to go with beer. Not that I drink any, but the food is great!

I haven't had stir fried glass noodles in 3 years I think. Missed it so much.

And veges that I've been taking for granted while I'm in Malaysia.

Calamari~

I honestly didn't know that fish skins are available in restaurants. I thought they were just sold as snacks.

And lastly, a family pic~! <3

Malaysian food

Met up with Amanda and David at Ten Years in Sunway Pyramid.

I walked past the shop and saw that they served fried assam laksa and decided to check this place out. But I ordered this tri-colour rice dish instead, which was absolutely delicious~!!!

David ordered the nasi kerabu while Amanda ordered the fried assam laksa. I stole a bite and it was delicious.

I also ordered an ice kacang which looks amazing in presentation but lacking in flavour. Definitely needed more gula melaka.

I just continued to hang in Pyramid so that I could catch up with Tham for a while before grabbing dinner with YL.

We went to Canton-i where we had veg soup and porridge.

Lol, super healthy dinner. The veg soup tasted a lot better than the porridge.

More food

Grabbed lunch with mummy and YL.

Super happy to have fried fritters with my bah kut teh~!

I like fried fu chuk as toppings on my bah kut teh.

For dinner, mum steamed my favourite fish and while I have a group dinner with Moon and Nick, I couldn't help myself and ate half the fish.

Later that night, we all met up at Penang Cendol place and I had the assam laksa there. Spicy but yummy~

Meet ups

Early in the morning, after dropping off J, I went to meet up with Sora and Shermin.

It was nice to catch up with the both of them as it has been more than 5 years since the 3 of us gathered together.

So many things have changed since then. And I hope to catch up with them again.

Later in the afternoon, I met up with YL for a quick bite at Sushi Zanmai because I miss their rolls!

I also miss their chuka kurage and wakame which are usually not available as individual dishes like this in Japan.

Later that night, I caught up with H who I last met at the end of 2017 when she came to Japan on a working holiday experience.

We had fish head noodles for dinner and while it's not the best, this will do to satisfy my cravings for now.

It was definitely nice to see how much she's grown in such a short span of time.

Can't wait to see the amazing young lady she will turn into in the near future.
