Din Tai Fung

A first at Din Tai Fung.....

I had always wanted to try this place ever since I heard that they sell xiao long bao and really good ones!!!

I went with my parents to the Empire Subang branch which was packed with ppl! We had to wait 15 mins before we got our seats, but at least the service was good and we get to order first while we wait to be seated.

Tada....my xiao long bao!!! I love these soo much! Their skin are perfect and won't break when you hold them up with the chopsticks. Plus they were really juicy! I must go back to have more of these!

An appetizer that I saw on the menu and wondered what it was. Not to my taste though......

Their hand made noodles! Yummy~ I love smooth noodles with wantons or dumplings! This one was tasty!

This has got to be the most disappointing dish the entire night. The skin on these dumpling were thick and I didn't enjoy them at all!!

The next time I go back, I will only have noodles with xiao log bao!

home-made apple crumble

hehee...my attempt at remaking the apple crumble from one of the shops in uni. It was quite a successful attempt, I would say!

I even made them in 3 different crumble toppings. The center top on has a crumble topping similar to that of delicious with lots of butter, then the bottom 3 actually very similar except that the one on the left has a super fine crumble with lesser butter and sugar.

Hokkaido Bakery

This Potato bun is my favourite item from Hokkaido Bakery. I love how it really looks like a potato on the outside...but beware though, the cocoa powder?? is a bit bitter. But the bun is just so fluffy and nice! Then you get the sweet potato filling in the middle.....mmmmm...yummy~~

Sao Nam, Empire Shopping Gallery

Sao Nam Vietnamese food

Went here with ppl from my industrial training...it was great to finally group together again after so long, though someone important whom we wanted to "pat" from didn't make it!

This prawn dish is really nice with rice, especially the broth which is extremely flavourful!!! This was my pick and fav. dish of the night!

This is the rice paper wrap and salad leaves that came together with the beef.....PY's pick!

This is a really interesting dish, though I did not have any. You have to wet the rice paper with a herb brush then add the leaves and beef before wrapping it up.....a little fun dish!

This is the mandarin duck. I feel that this is quite a sophisticated looking dish, I mean the duck is sliced thinly and arranged nicely on the plate that already had the mandarin orange sauce. I was thinking of something more rustic in a vietnamese restaurant....but I like it!

I forgot what's the sauce for this chicken dish, but as with the above, it tasted and looked good too.

Omg...this has got to be the best brinjal I had ever eaten!!! How do they even do it!!! Did I say the prawn was the best dish? Then it must be a tie with this dish!! A must try!!!!! They skinned the brinjal and topped it with fried scallions and ......whatever sauce......who knows how they do it!

Lastly, but not least......an amazing dessert to end the night! This pumpkin here is huge and we shared it among the 5 of us! Really good....I love the eggs custard filling with the sweet pumpkin!

I always say that I want to go back, but I haven't yet had the chance.....I must go back to have some of those nice food!!!

Apple crumble

Apple crumble with vanilla ice cream from Delicious, Sunway Pyramid.

Recently, I'm very into apple crumble....so much that I've even started to make them myself at home. And I must say that it's one of the more successful dessert I've ever made in my kitchen! hahaa....

TVC shoot

Last month, I had the chance to play a small part (kelefe) in a tvc.  It was a good experience as I now know how ppl make tvcs, hehehe.....and I can add on to the list of things that I've ever done in my life.

The process was long, it started with taking pictures at the dance studio, then followed by a casting with the company where we had to take more pictures and do a freestyle dance. Then it was the meeting/casting with the director plus rehearsals......and more rehearsals. Then those who had bigger parts even had to go for costume fitting days before the shoot.

It was a long day under the hot sun and we shot from morning till evening. Those with big parts even had to shoot for days. Thank goodness I didn't had to go under the hot sun for so many days. Plus I just got back from my phuket trip, so I was already a few shades darker. The sun itself wasn't so bad, it's those huge spot lights that really kills you. They're scorching hot!!!! The exposed part on my shoulder is like some dark mark after the shoot and my exposed hairline hurt for more than a week. The worst part is that I can't even see if my scalp was peeling or not.

Here's the outcome (CLICK ME!), which I can't spot myself! hahaha.....

Here's the making which I looked horrible in......(CLICK ME!).

Letter.....why did you come only now? If only you had come earlier.....

I wish I can just say that in life, there is no right or wrong decisions, just how we make good of the situation.

I hope that things will work out for me in the end. I had already miss the chance once, I do not want the same thing to happen again. This is the dream that I had been dreaming about and I will make it happen~!!

Ochado

:D getting my fix of green tea smoothie now.

I've been procrastinating a lot lately and couldn't get much lab work done. ARGH! I've gotta get rid of this lazy bug!

I'm pretty boring when it comes to drinks. I don't drink for coffee and don't have cravings for pearl milk tea or anything. I don't drink beer too or much alcohol.

Be it ochado, chatime or mocoto, I only order "Japanese green tea smoothie with azuki beans". hehee....it's the only thing that I drink as I love green tea and red beans. Also since I do not like chewy things like pearls.....you might think it's weird, as most ppl love them, but it's just me.

I love the bitterness of the green tea with the sweet red beans that cut through it. I only learnt to love and enjoy the bitterness of the green tea after I attended a japanese dinner with important japanese guests. The dessert served was a green tea ice cream that tasted bitter when eaten alone with sweet red beans. When eaten together, it's heaven! Ir's like the green tea married the red bean....LOL. Before I tasted it, sensei told me about it and I thought to myself why would anyone make a bitter ice cream.....but one bite of it and I understood why. <3
