NEWS is 4

Ever since Yamapi and Ryo's departure from NEWS, I haven't really been catching up with them except watching their latest PV's. 

Was really upset with Pi and Ryo's decision initially but I'm ok now.

Pi knew from the beginning that his path would not be easy as he would be starting once he leave NEWS but  I will always be supporting him.

As for Ryo, can't blame him for wanting to focus more on K8's activities. Plus as one from Kansai, I think he feels a need to work hard for the Kansai Jrs as well. We all know that K8 was the last group from Kansai that debuted and that was 9 years ago. Johnny really needs to debut another Kansai group.....their jrs have been working really hard.


Last night was the first time I've seen footages from their NEWS live tour 2012 美しい恋にするよ. NEWS with 6 members was my favourite Jpop group ever and for years, I've been wanting to watch them live.

Cried while watching their performance of "Share". This is because Share was written by the 6-member NEWS and it was sort of like a new start for them after their short hiatus. The song talked about how 6 strangers who came together and became friends, their friendship and their existence with the fans. 

This Share performance is definitely one of my favourite. Massu totally teared up at the part where he was supposed to sing about how they all came together to produce this stage and to thank everyone. Even Shige teared up. Tego was amazing because thanks to him, the song was able to be performed nicely. He was able to maintain his composure. I must've hit that replay button for at least 10X because I love the performance so much.

This is my favourite new song by them. Just the name of the song itself seems soooo positive. It's like, yes we will go in full swing from now on and give our best for everything that we do in the future!!



hehe....another emotional performance. One that you will cry every single time you watch it, no matter how many time you have watched it before. I guess it is understandable as NEWS had been through so many hardships. From 9->8->6->4. NEWS couldn't have much activities together as  a group because the members either work separately or are too busy. 

Pi for example had sooo many dramas plus his own solo activities. Then there's Ryo who also have K8 activities and when he's with one group, he's halting the activities of the other group. Then Tegomas was born and they too have separate activities.

Ok, maybe that performance didn't really do NEWS or the song justice. So here's another live version where you can hear everyone's voices clearly.



 For me, NEWS is truly 4 and they're perfect this way now. I would love to attend their concert in future too if I have the chance.

Well, if you've noticed, I have deleted about half of the number of posts that I used to have. I'll continue to clear some of the old posts that I no longer want there.

It's been four years since I started using this blog, ever since Lina created it for me. I just saw that the very first post was made on 23.07.07. 

I saw that many of my first few posts were NEWS related before I started to include more about TVXQ. Lol.....I did really like both groups back then, especially NEWS which I continue to blog about even until now. 

Well, I did like them for like the longest time ever and even back in 2007, I had a post where I claiming that it was my dream to attend a NEWS concert (even though a japanese concert has always been my dream, but to attend a NEWS concert was my no. 1). haaha.....that was still one of my biggest wish till recently. After so many years of wanting to attend it......but now it will never come true. :(

After screening through some of my oldest posts, I could see that my posts remain pretty much the same: sharing about things that I like.....such as music, dance, food, japan and science. Of course, every now and then I would be complaining about some stuffs that bugged me or some bad days. 

It's quite sad to delete some of the posts actually because it's like tearing pages off your diary and burning them. But this is after all and online blog and there are things that I want to keep private. 

I had initially thought of closing up this blog or password protecting it. But then I have decided to keep it. :) There are many things that I have shared here that I want to remain as it is, which is why I have resorted to deleting posts that I no longer want instead.

On the side note, I really like this necklace that Taipi always wears. This cute little apple with a little golden heart-shaped indentation is an original from LV. It looks absolutely amazing and so is the price!!!

I love it because it looks classy and it is fashionable. Red and gold just go so well together. You can even use it as a charm on your bracelet if you don't want to wear it on your neck.

There's a saying, "You are the apple of my eye"....... yea and this pendant gives me the feeling of , "Apple of my heart"! hahaha......I feel that this would make a meaningful gift for someone that you love.

I always like the accessories that Taipi wears......it's almost like we have similar tastes in jewelleries. I like "things" which symbolises "love" and the necklaces that he wears just seem like that to me. 

Reading Pi's latest interview made me felt ashamed for blaming Pi for wanting to chase his dream. To add on to that, Pi being my fav. artist for so long.....(Though at present, Taipi is giving Yamapi a good run for his money. Yes, Taipi is a guy with wise words. The things he says......never cease to make me reflect on things that I do.)

After reading this excerpt, it sort of reminded me why I like Pi and why I enjoy reading his nikki.

"I guess everyone would have known from the earlier reports, I opted out from NEWS. I only have one life-time, if it's possible, I would like to challenge different things. Even though it's easier to work in the 6-member team, I just can't continue to immerse myself in that sort of comfort zone. Initially when I brought up this matter to the other members, they try to keep me in the group. But in the end, they understood my decision. One day before the release of "Thank you for these 8 years" message, I sent each one of them a mail. All because of the experiences I've gained in NEWS, I am who I am today. As a result, they replied with "Looking forward to the new Yamapi". Although our paths will be different from now onwards, whatever we've built up will not change. To the fans of NEWS, I'm really sorry. In order to make up for this, I want to give my best bringing good work to everyone. These are what I've been thinking of now."

It was really selfish of me because I love NEWS and placed all the blame on Pi and Ryo. 


I totally agree with his statement that we only have this one life-time. I live thinking like this too....that in life, there's so many things that I want to do and try, if only there was more time....but time is limited and there is only me. So in life, we have to prioritize certain things while we let go of others. Those that we let go of may not be the one that we do not cherish or want but it's just that there is so much one can do. In order to achieve the greater dream, sacrifices would have to be made. 


Yes, and regarding the comfort zone too. I believe that people are afraid of changes because they are too comfortable in their little zone and no prevent oneself from falling into that is to put yourself out there to face new challenges. I am one who can get a little too comfortable in her zone which is why I like to take up and try new things but nothing too extreme!! 


I understand that in life there may be dreams that we want to chase which others might not agree too or think it's pointless. As hard as it already is, it gets even tougher when those around you do not support you. But in this life time, we are living our life for ourselves and no one else. Therefore, once you have made the decision to move forward, you will have to keep trying and trying till you succeed. Many obstacles may come along the way but experience and enjoy the journey. When the day you have been waiting for finally comes, all the hardships will be worth it.


Pi being who he is discussed this with the members of NEWS and it seems he knew if his weaknesses and agree on the fact that being in a group could be plus point for him. But he has decided that it is time to go solo to see how much he can achieve. Well, he has been practicing dance real hard, his guitar and hopefully...he's back to composing some new songs which we will hear soon. I think knowing the fact that this will be the path of no return, he will have to really push his limits. Same as Jin, no place for them to fall back on should they fail.

Tomohisa Yamashita:

Ryo Nishikido:

“It has been an amazing experience to have been given the chance to work in both NEWS and Kanjani8, and I want to say a huge thank you to all of my fans who supported the Nishikido in NEWS.  Being part of two groups, there were scheduling conflicts that couldn’t be resolved no matter how hard I tried.  I felt bad because it was getting very difficult to plan CD releases and concert tours on both sides, which ultimately lead to this decision.  I wish Koyama, Kato, Masuda, and Tegoshi all the best in delivering a new NEWS.”

 I've known that at some point all this has got to come to a stop. All the best to you and your K8 brothers.....

Keiichiro Koyama:

“We talked over and over again until we reached this decision.  We might be working separately now, but the four of us will carry on what we have all done for the past 8 years.  We promise to work harder than we ever have, and we will move forward.  I hope you will continue to support us.”

 Thank you Koyama, as expected of the MC of the group, he always says the right and proper words. Of course, I will support NEWS.

Shigeaki Kato:

 I love the NEWS that you all have built too....with all the members that I love. Yes, you always do work hard, attending all other groups concert so that you know who to improve NEWS' concerts so that fans can get closer to NEWS.

My fav. JE group is turning 8. So happy for them...their journey may not have been smooth but working hard and taking time to get to each stage is not a bad thing. Like slowly moving towards their 1st album or 1st Tokyo dome concert.

NEWS might not have released singles as often as other artists or even get together as often, but that's ok. Cause when they do get together, they produce something great!

I have always wanted to go to a NEWS concert because if you've watched their concert DVD, you will see the big smile on their faces that totally reaches out to the fans. Yea, and it's sort of the overall feeling form the group. Most importanly, I love their songs. So far, I've only bought one conert DVD, if possible, I would collect all their concert DVDs.

Fans have been planning a special present for NEWS 8th anniversary and that is to make their 2007 single "Hoshi wo mezashite(Aim for the stars)" No.1 in sales again. I guess that single was chosen because it was the 1st new single by the "reborned" 6-member NEWS after their long hiatus. Plus also because of the meaning lyrics. This is one of my favourite too...

And.....the fans did it! It got to No.1 even before the actual anniversary date!! Omedetou~

On the side note, Tegomasu is coming out with a new album called "Tagomasu no mahou (Tegomasu's magic)" on October 19.

In a collaborative project between Yamapi’s upcoming film “あしたのジョー (Ashita no Joe)” and Toshiba’s dynabook laptop computers, a Yamapi figurine had been displayed at Akasaka Sacas.

Ahh....I was in tokyo on both dates and both were free days where I can explore the city freely! I can't believe that I missed out on this event! So near but totally lost and un-informed! Well.....I didn't have any access to the internet throughout my trip because I didn't bring my laptop and was too lazy to look for a PC.

The face doesn't really look like Pi..... Yamapi is so much better looking! But yes, if I live there, I would go and take picture with it too~~

Poor Pi who forgot what meat had tasted like during movie shoot because he had to train very hard to attain a boxer's figure in a short period of time. The poor boy dropped from 62 kg to 53.5 kg, with his fat percentage down to 5%. Mind you, it's not liek he's got a lot of fat on him to begin with. He needs to eat more and gain more weight!

Looking back on his training days,

“I was really hungry. It made me realise how much I took food for granted,” he said.

“It was difficult to get into form when I was only able to eat a limited amount of food. I ate a lot of vegetables and protein.”

“I’d forgotten what meat had tasted like. I thought, ‘so this is what it was like’. It was great,” he said.

Poor Pi~~Pi's trainer would punch him in the stomach to help get him into the fighting spirit. “I trained my muscles for punching. It was worth doing all of those sit ups and getting pushed around every day,” he said.

 

“Ashita no Joe” will open in cinemas in Japan from February 11.

Lol....I can't help but add this too....."Pi's new muscular body!!" hahaha....I can see that he's lost some of his chest muscles as compared to buzzer beat but he has a super toned body now. And most importantly, he needs to eat and gain some weight~!

NEWS’ Tomohisa Yamashita (25) lost 8.5 kilos and his body fat percentage went down to 5% while he worked on “明日のジョー (Ashita no Joe)” it was revealed yesterday, reports Daily Sports Online and Sponichi Annex.


Character photos of the cast in the movie were released yesterday, which showed a muscular Joe Yabuki, played by Yamapi, and his rival character Tohru Rikishi, played by Yusuke Iseya (34).


The two stars had said their training consisted of a strict diet and rigorous exercises.


Yamapi started getting in shape for his role in February, a month before filming began. His daily calorie intake was halved down to 1200 calories a day, and mainly featured chicken fillets and salads. Yamapi also did two to three hours of boxing and cardio training every day, and even had sparring sessions with former WBA world super bantamweight champion Osamu Sato (33).


By the time filming had finished in early June, Yamapi’s weight had dropped from 62 kilos to 53.5 kilos, and his body fat percentage dipped from 14% to 5%, giving him a clear six-pack. It has been reported a number of his group members from NEWS said they we were worried about his sudden weight loss.


Co-star Iseya had also endured a similar training routine, and his weight had dropped from 67 kilos to 57 kilos, and body fat percentage from 15% to 3 %.


The film’s supervising trainer had said that the two stars had gotten into better shape than Japanese boxing champions he had seen in the past.


Yamapi and Iseya had said they were serious when it came to their fighting scenes.


“I went into it with a ‘I’m not going to lose to Iseya!’ attitude. Iseya-san had this ‘give me your best shot’ look and the fact that the two of us were really punching one another, it helps you to feel the scene instead of just relying on the film’s lines,” Yamapi said.


“明日のジョー (Ashita no Joe)” will open in Japan cinemas in 2011. It is based on the critically acclaimed boxing manga of the same name by Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba, created in 1968.

Poor Yamapi, I bet the other NEWS members were super worried esp during their concert tour.....and 1200 calories per day!!! Isn't tat like too little??? Omg...I'm gonna be heavier that him soon!!! Well..it's all over now....

I hope the movie will receive high ratings and that his acting skills will be recognised by more people.

hehee..... The first song that Yamapi ever composed!!!

I've been upset but songs from NEWS "Live" album has been able to cheer me up a bit.

I love this album because of the meaningful songs inside. Plus the beat is easy and relaxing to listen to. Also, it's great that NEWS have a new album, which means more new songs for their next concert! Really can't wait to watch the live perf for some of the songs.

hehehe....Yamapi was brought up in my jap class yesterday and my sensei was telling me about him and keiko dating. lol~ my sensei enjoyed Buzzer Beat too! ooo....love love love his performance there.


I'm so happy that NEWS are filming together again and there will be a new album out soon! whee~~~

Whee~~~ it's for kirin's namacha 10th anniversary. They decided to make a huge mossaic picture of Pi's CM for them using 4770 bottles, with 9540 participants.

Where? at the main stairs of Fuji Terebi.....

Over 4 days, people bought namacha at the event and were given tickets to have their pictures taken on either side of the board below with Pi's picture in the background. The pics were then printed onto the bottles....2 person per bottle.

The bottles were then used to build the huge world's largest mossaic picture as the one below. Participants were even given id numbers so that they could locate their pictures on the mossaic once it's completed. The full mossaic pic can be seen here :http://www.namacha-event.jp/pc/mosaic.html and true enough, you can really key in ur id number to track our picture. And here's the CM for the namacha......

What's better than 1 Pi is having 2 Pis....haahaa......

Johnny's Countdown 2009-2010

As with every year around this time, I will be watching the Johnny's concert countdown. I love their countdowns....I feel very happy everytime I watch them. Happy sunshine boys singing and dancing on stage. Well...they're not all young little boys, there are many senpai's performing on stage every year. So it is a show suitable for people of all ages as long as you like japanese music.

This year there are several medleys, starting with the debut single medley followed by the smash hit medley and lastly the shuffle unit medley. As with last year, the concerts were held in several halls: Tokyo Dome, Kyocera Dome Osaka and Tokyo Imperial Theatre. Same show in 3 halls simultaneously?? Yes.....Johnny's very good at that.

Tackey, A.B.C and Kis-my-ft2 were in the imperial hall. Kanjani8 and the kansai juniors were based in Osaka and therefor Ryo-chan's there too. And the rest of the Johnny's at Tokyo Dome. It's sad that Ryo-chan had to be separated from the rest of NEWS but one cannot be too greedy. Ryo-chan has been spending a lot of time with NEWS and he was after all placed in Kanjani8 first.

Arashi was the host again this year..... *wheee* and everyone's wearing kira-kira outfits.








I knew that Kinki Kids have been having 29 consecutive no. 1 hits since their debut in 1997, but I never knew that it was a Guiness World Record. After watching the vid, I searched the net and it seems it's true!!! Omedetou~ Kinki Kids!

*happy* Uchi's there, Toma-kun's there too with Pi!!!

I love the shuffle medley!!! but it feels weird to have Kattun singing NEW's Kibou...hehe, totally different vibe.



Ryo-chan's record of being the only Johnny's member to be in 2 groups has been broken by *ahem* my 2 lovely sons: Yamada Ryosuke and Chinen Yuuri. These 2 little ones together with cutie Nakayama Yuma and the B.I.Shadow boys form NYC Boys. N for Nayayuma, Y for Yamada (it's bolded as he's the leader), C for Chinen and the B.I.Shadow boys...well, boys = New York City Boys.

I find it quite unfair to the other senpai JJ and also for B.I.Shadow. I've been waiting for ABC and Kis-my-ft2 to debut for SOOOO long! Not very good looking but they are some amazing talents in there! Instead all the chibis get to debut first!!! Yes, I love Yamada and Chinen but kesian the B.I.Shadow boys who sings only a few lines!!

As with NEWS, NYC Boys were also supposed to be only a temporary group formed to sing for some volleyball competition. But I guess due to the good response, they were made permanent. Also, they're both now the only groups with members from Tokyo and Kansai region.

Here's their PV- NYC. Nakayama is starting to grow on me, I think I'll give his dorama a try.


Yea, my sons look great in the PV. Chinen has grown so much taller and his voice is a lot deeper now. His back flip is absolutely beautiful. Can you see this kid jump from like 3-4 metres high in the PV? I'm interested to see what his gymnast background will bring to his dance in the future. :D

Pi's new J-dorama

OMG~OMG~OMG~~~ Pi and Kitagawa Keiko in a drama together!!!

Keiko was rumoured to be Pi's ex.....long time ago! Well, they did attend Meiji Daigaku together. Among all his rumoured exes, I prefered her best! Mou, seriously Pi, you should start dating nice girls!!!



I'm hoping for some love sparks between the two....in real life!



I love Keiko ever since Sailormoon, she portrayed my fav. Sailor Mars sooo well!!! At the same time, jealousy-ne, she got to act as lead female next to Yuu Shirota and now Pi.



Title of drama: Match Point



Plot Summary: This is a youthful lovestory depicting how a man, working for a company sponsored basketball team, who's not very self-confident but straight-forward and a woman who is cheerful but strong-willed with an attitude grow up through the trials and tribulations of love and friendship. Main role Yamashita Tomohisa. The female role of the woman the man falls in love with has been given to Kitagawa Keiko.



Other casts includes Aibu Saki from Attention please and Zettai Kareshi! Another pretty girl! Aren't you lucky-ne, Pi-chan? Oh and the other hot guy is Mizobata Junpei.



I can't wait! I love basketball!!! I wanna see Pi play bball!



Aibu Saki plays Pi's gf in the drama but then he falls for Keiko......oooo......MUST WATCH! Oh btw, Aibu Saki was also rumoured to be dating Pi once upon a time! Anyways, either girls...I APPROVE!!! But personally, I think Keiko suits Pi more!



Oh well, famous actors and actresses always gets rumoured to be with one another....how many can you believe?



I hope Pi plays a more expressive character.....but judging from the summary plot.... I hope it's not like Proposal Daisakuen. I was like, "Why don't you just tell her that you like her already!!!" and when he finally gets the courage, she dates her sensei!!! hai~~~

Yea NEWS finally have another new single!! "恋のABO", which is used as the CM song for Russ-K T-fes!

I personally don't like Pi's hair-do in this PV! It doesn't suit his face! He looked a bit like Takuya Kimura and Tego looked a bit like Pi! Plus, Pi needs to loosen up a bit! He looks a bit too cool compared to the others! Btw, Pi looks like he has lost some weight.
