Tsujihan (つじ半 日本橋本店).

Brunch today is at Tsujihan (つじ半 日本橋本店).

They serve this beautiful kaisen don.

We were there before they opened but there was already a queue outside. Luckily, the queue wasn't too long yet so we did not had to wait long.

While queueing, we were given these menu to decide on our orders.
Of course, we went with the Tokujyo, which came with kani, uni and ikura!! The cost for a bowl is 3,600 JPY.

The entrance.

We were seated at the corner of the counter area and hence got a nice view of the kitchen.

Tada! Our Kaisen don. Just look at the amount of seafood!

And they also gave us some extra tai or sea bream in goma sauce on the side to be eaten with our kaisen don or with the ochazuke.

ITADAKIMASU!

There is even an instruction on the table to teach you how to enjoy the meal.

After enjoying 70% of my kaisendon, I asked the waitress for ochazuke. She will take you bowl and fill it with tai dashi for the ochazuke. Look at how creamy the broth is!

Finished everything to the last drop!

The queue has gotten very long by the time we were done eating. There at least 20 people in line. This is a very popular place despite the pandemic. I will definitely be back for more as the food was delicious!

Best tempura don at Kaneko Hannosuke

I went for dinner with J on Friday night at Kaneko Hannosuke and there was a long queue of about 10 people outside. We got in after about 30mins. While standing outside, you can smell the oil used to cook the tempura so don't come here if you plan on smelling good after the meal.

We ordered their edomae tendon which was HUGE!!!! ant it costs less than 1000yen.

Just look at the amount of food piled on top? There's anago, tamago (first time trying egg tempura),  ebi, wakame, ika and shishitou. There is also free flow of pickles on the table. The portion here is definitely big, I was struggling to finish at the end and had to give one tempura to J.

But this is definitely a place I want to revisit because the tempura is just really yummy! This tempura is on the heavy side, if you like the lighter version, this place might not be for you.

Valentine's date at Flowers by Naked

First official date and we're having chicken rice for lunch because I have been craving for it for weeks! heehee....

Received this cute little bouquet of flowers.

Super happy with the meal as my cravings were satisfied.

Yup, describes him perfectly.

We went to Nihonbashi for this exhibition called Flowers by Naked.

We were asked to pick one photo of a flower and this was the one we picked.

It's an interactive gallery, so we used the photo to create more light illusions.

Along with the lights, there were live music and dancers dancing around us and interacting with everyone.

Love the projections~

I like how they used lighting and music to perfect harmony.

The place looks a lot better in person.

It's really hard to capture it's beauty in a picture.

You really have to be there to feel it for yourself.

At the exit, there were roses for sale too.

As well as many other flower decorative items.

After that, we got a bit hungry...but ti wasn't time for dinner yet so we dropped by Din Tai Fung for some light snacks.

We ordered the raddish cake, a savoury xiao long bao and this......sweet, chocolate xiao long bao. Lol.....didn't really know what to expect with this one.

While it was interesting to have melted chocolate flow out of the xiao long bao, I prefer the savoury ones more.

Nihonbashi

Early morning, I had a English and Japanese language exchange with A san and her friends.

We were having it in Soup Stock, Nihonbashi. This is the first time I'm trying this and the soup itself is actually quite filling. The taste is good and I figure that this makes a really good comfort food on a cold day.

After that, I met up with my friend and we went for an impromptu cruise ride at Nihonbashi.

The 45 min Nihonbashi cruise costs 1500yen while the 60 min cruise costs 2000yen.

If I remembered correctly, we went on the 1pm 45 min cruise.

The boat that we boarded does not have a roof but they provided hats for anyone who needed them.

It was nice to look at Nihonbashi from a different point of view.

It was nice because of the cool breeze.

Here are some pictures from the cruise.

The Nihonbashi bridge has some very nice structures.

After that, we went exploring in some of the malls there.

It was interesting to see such a huge sculpture in Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi.

While we were there, there was an organ performance too! That was really nice!

After that, we had early dinner at a Singapore Hainanese Chicken rice shop in Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower store.

We both ordered a chicken rice set which came with a mini bowl of laksa. The chicken rice was really good actually. I ordered the half steam and half fried chicken.  I like the rice more compared to the laksa as I felt that the laksa had too much coconut milk in it.

We continued our exploration afterwards and walked into this interesting place.  I never knew that there was a shrine smacked right in the middle of all the tall buildings in Nihonbashi.

We were also extremely lucky to pass by this store selling Japanese pancakes as it was their last day of operation there.

Spotted some pretty blue hydrangeas on the way back and had to snap this pic.

Din Tai Fung, Nihonbashi

Celebrated K's birthday at Din Tai Fung, Tekko Building, Nihonbashi.

Poor K had been sick for about an entire month and even on that day, she was still sick and couldn't eat anything fried.

She could only order the noodles and steamed chicken.

Meanwhile, N and I shared the fried rice. Of course, we also ordered some xiao long baos to share.

Overall, dinner was good but because this shop was underground, it was kinda hard to find and it took them both about 30mins to find it.

Lol, 4 desserts for only 3 of us because the birthday girl needs it!
