B'day dinner

Birthday celebration at Cova.

After a very busy day out and shabu-shabu buffet for lunch, we managed to make it here for our early dinner.

Happy to be back here again for dinner. I've only had dinner here once before with Mish.

While their dinner is more expensive compared to the lunch course, you do get more dishes.

First up~ love the savoury macaron. I think it's the first time I've had a savoury macaron. The other one is a savoury crepe with truffle.

This here is my 1st appetiser.

2nd appetiser. I wasn't expecting such an interested plating. The crab essence or flavours in this dish were superb~

Pasta time. I'm glad that it was a small portion as there were more dishes coming and we were served bread too.

I'm touched that the Chef remembered that I don't like my meat rare, despite it being a year ago that I asked him to make it medium well for me. This time he made it medium well for me too.

Besides red meat, we also had fish! I always enjoy how crispy the skin is.

Finally, it was time for dessert. By that time, I was already full but as they say, you have a separate stomach for desserts!

They very nicely left a Birthday message on the plate for me too.

To end the meal, we had tea with some caramel and canelle.

Super happy with the course that night. I can't wait to return for another dinner course!

Random Oct happenings

While waiting for my Japanese lesson to start, I spotted this Thai vermicelli salad in 711 and had to try it!

It was delicious! I'm so thankful for times like this when I can get flavours like this at a convenient store though it is super rare.

Another meal on the shinkansen. Grabbing a quick bite on the train before I continue with my work.

This wall here is taken near the taxi stand at Kyoto station. I found it interesting that they have an area dedicated to the different kinds of stones.

My 2nd zumba event with my colleagues!

It was super tiring as it was 100 mins of non-stop zumba but it was definitely fun!

Not sure when I can go for another event like this.

Probably after vaccines are available.

My colleague and his friend who are both twice my age but also twice as fit!

Day 7, 8 & 9 home

Amanda's wedding day.

Early in the morning, I took a grab to Amanda's house for her gate crash. Immediately after that we grabbed a quick bite and went on a drive to the villa near where she will be holding her wedding ceremony and dinner.

Here's a picture of the bridesmaid in trying out the bridesmaid dress together.

The wedding ceremony.

My 2nd time as a bridesmaid since PM's wedding.

My seat at the wedding. It was interesting as it was the first time I had given a speech at someone's wedding by I'm glad I got to share my thoughts on this beautiful union.

Late in the night....or should I say, early in the morning, Sky's bf drove us back home after the wedding.

I woke up the next day craving for nasi lemak and ordered grab good for the first time ever. I ordered nasi lemak from Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock and it was delicious!!!! I finished everything!

For dinner that night, we had dinner with my cousin and her family.

Meeting one of my nieces for the first time and omg, how time flies!!! They grow up so fast!!

The next morning, it was time to head to the airport again.

Last chance to enjoy some Malaysian flavours before I board. I had opted for a nice bowl of assam laksa so that I get to experience that burst of various strong flavours coming together in harmony to produce this comforting dish.

On the flight, I was served sweet and sour chicken meatballs as part of my non-vegetarian meal selection. While it doesn't look super appetizing, the flavours were good and it made me realise that I have not had any sweet and sour dish on this trip home.

For my second meal, I purchased a nasi lemak goreng because I really wanted enjoy another Malaysian dish before landing.

This is my first time trying a nasi lemak goreng and it was super delicious! The flavours were strong and delicious. Very well suited as an in-flight meal.

Day 5 & 6 home

For lunch, YL came to bring me to this yummy pork noodle place for lunch. So nice of her to come and bring me out for food even though she has a super busy schedule.

After that we went for desserts at pyramid and we had some yummy cakes at Costa.

I didn't think I'll ever say that I miss a good carrot cake but I do as this is not a cake that you can find easily in Japan, unless maybe you visit a nice vegan place.

For dinner, I met up with Moon for dinner at Canton-i but I guess we were both too hungry or tired because we totally forgot to take any pictures of ourselves!!!

We had a yummy fried raddish cake. I miss this flavour!!! The wok hei~

Some homey dumplings.

And the highlight of the night was this wantan mee with char siu and siew yok! Ahhh....where can I find good char siu and siu yok in Japan??

I guess it could also be habit as we are both not the kind of people to take a lot of selfie so when you put the two of us together, we just forgot.

Day 4 home

My favourite egg custard pudding in the whole world from Thean Chun in Ipoh.

Then some pork satay for breakfast.

Together with some Ipoh Hor Fun~!

Good breakfast time with Mum and Uncle.

Then we enjoyed a short walk to the concubine's alley. While we were there, there were some ppl doing some filming there.

I really like all these art that you can find at random areas.

After that, Mum and I took the train back to KL. It was my first time taking the train between Ipoh and KL and it as a good and comfy ride.

At night, I caught up with Heather who has changed jobs recently.

Dinner was at Rakuzen. Lol~

Ordered a few fancy maki, which I enjoyed a lot due to the strong flavours. Also, the presentation was awesome.

You might think why am I eating Japanese food back home, but it is just different and I love the Japanese food presentation and flavours back home.
