Penang Restaurant ペナンレストラン

We ended the night at Penang Restaurant ペナンレストラン where we had yummy Malaysian food which I've been missing for a while now.

We ordered a few dishes to share. The prawn mee was delicious but the char keuy teow was a slight let down.

An interesting board in the restaurant which introduces delicious food in Malaysia.

The asam laksa here was yummy~ I've missed this too! :)

Apparently, this shop serves nasi kandar too.

heehee.... an interesting artwork showcasing how you should eat Malaysian food.

There's even a board that teaches you how to speak in Malay.

As if 3 orders of noodles is not enough for just the 2 of us, we ordered curry puffs too!

And ice cream for dessert~!! :D

The curry puff was ok but the ice cream was superb~!! We both loved it so much! I definitely must order this again the next time.

浜離宮恩賜庭園 (Hamarikyu Garden)

After lunch, we walked to Hamarikyu Garden. As it was a hot day, I had to use my umbrella the entire time but my umbrella chose to die on me that day. Hence, I was left with a disfigured umbrella that didn't work quite well, especially when the wind blew.

The garden was beautiful~

So glad that we made the trip here even though it was super hot.

 

There were some benches around for people to rest and I guess, it would be really nice during spring or autumn.

There's a huge lake in the middle of the garden and the view of it from atop this little hill was really nice.

After exploring the gardens, while we were on our way to Roppongi, we stopped by Denny's for some dessert to cool ourselves down.

Lunch at 秀徳本店 , Tsukiji

Went for lunch at this little shop in Tsukiji called 秀徳本店 (Shu-toku honten).

This little sushi shop is a little hidden away from the main road but the sushi was definitely top notch.

This place if good too as you don't have to queue a long time for a good omakase course.

We both ordered the omakase course. I ordered the 4200 yen course while my friend ordered the 6000 yen one.

I'm super happy with the experience this time. As the restaurant was less crowded, I was able to enjoy my sushi slow piece by piece. The last time I tried an omakase course, the shop had a long queue outside. Before you finish the sushi on your plate, the sushi chef would have placed another sushi on your plate. So it feels kinda rushed.

Here, you get to watch the sushi chef make your order. You can talk to him and ask him things about the seafood. So the experience was really good.

The rice used here isn't the normal sushi rice, they're slightly brownish in colour because of the soy sauce used.

I love the hotate and uni served here. The hotate was topped with the coarse sea salt which really helped to enhance its flavours. As for the uni, just look at this masterpiece~! YUMMY~!! :D

Really enjoy sitting right in front of the chef who's preparing the food.

Best part is that he tells you what each of the fish is every time he serves something to you.

The miso soup that came with the meal.

Each piece of sushi was well seasoned and there was no need for any soy sauce.

If there's something that you don't eat, you can inform the chef and change it to something else. 

The girl who was sitting next to me doesn't take uni and the chef changed it to something else for.

Since my friend ordered the more expensive course, some of the more premium looking sushi here were his.

Most of the time, the chef would make 2 sushi at the same time and place it on this plate here before placing it on our individual plates.

I absolutely love this cup. It explains the different fish that were in season throughout the year.

Look out for this lantern here and the sign below to find the shop.

We found out where the shop got their cups and went to check the shop out. But they no longer had the same design.

After that, we explored around the market and spotted this expensive, square watermelon!!!

We also chanced upon a shop slicing tuna. Lucky!

Ueno Zoo

Just about a week before we visited the zoo, the panda at Ueno Zoo gave with birth to a baby panda.

The girls and I visited Ueno Zoo with Yh's colleague on a weekend. There were many people, mostly there for the panda I guess as the entrance to the panda area was the only one with a long queue.

Unfortunately, the panda was sleeping and not facing us when we visited.

Ueno Zoo is big and there are many places to explore.

The weather was really hot on the day we visited and I think the animals feel the heat too. It's just too hot to do anything.

This gorilla here looks like it just wants to relax all day under the shade.

These 2 horses are really pretty.

There's this little hut with air-conditioning  that houses the rabbits and guinea pigs. They were super cute, especially when they were feeding on the fruit pieces provided to them.

There was a big area for the hippos too and the area was super stinky. I just rushed through it. heehee....

After the zoo, we had dinner Yh's colleagues. Then we went to shop around the area and grabbed ice cream at BR before heading home.
