Ichiran Ramen

Early in the morning and we stopped by the Edogawa zoo which was empty at that time.
Love this zoo because it's free~!!!

Saw some monkeys which I've missed the last time I visited

.....and found this little one who looks like it wants to fight someone

We went to Shibuya for some shopping and for the famous Ichiran Ramen!!!!

As usual, I have to add an egg to my ramen~!!! Love their broth which is flavourful but not too fatty!

We entered the Disney store in Shibuya and I saw this really cute Pooh bear stuffed toy~!!! Reminds me of Tsum Tsum! I would really love to bring this home~

heehee.....another Pooh bear

These two are so cute, it's my first time seeing these two characters~

Disney princesses......who could resist!

Stuffs in the Disney store are always so cute! Especially their cosmetics and accessories. If I have more budget, I would love to get a stuff toy from there for my room <3

Eating Japan - Snack series 4

1. Pocky Crystal Salty

Not sure why it's not called crystal salt instead. Bought this when summer was just starting and I was like, "Oh wow....there's a pocky that makes you feel cool!?" hahaha....yes, you can taste the salt in this but it's delicious~

2. Bourbon Alfort Chocolate

The normal chocolate and milk chocolate series. I prefer the normal chocolate one as it's less sweet. As it's individually packed, it's really convenient to bring around.

3. Calbee Limited Edition Prawn and salt flavoured potato chips~!!!

While this is not the best limited edition version, this was pretty good!

4. Mugi Mugi

My idea of a healthy snack~!!!  This is super good when eaten alone though you can enjoy this with milk too as a cereal.

5. StyleONE salt popcorn

Yea, also another of my so called healthy snack. I've never really enjoyed salted popcorn till I came to Tokyo.

Nakau

Quick and cheap dinner at Nakau

Probably not a very good choice to bring mum to when she's here on holiday. But we were hungry and needed to grab a quick meal. Then this shop was just nearby, so we hopped in.

We ordered the bara chirashi don, cold udon and hot kitsune udon.

I think the best dish would have to be the hot kitsune udon. While the cold udon was refreshing for a hot day, the taste was relatively mild. As for the bara chirashi don, the fish didn't seem that fresh.

Kani Doraku Shinjuku

Day 1 for mum and aunt.
I went to the airport early in the morning to pick them back to my place before heading out again.

We went to the Shinjuku Honten branch - http://douraku.co.jp.e.at.hp.transer.com/kanto/shinjyuku_h/

There's 3 of us but because the sets look really big, we only ordered 2. The 2 that we ordered were the 輝 (Kagayaki) (8,640 yen) &  昴 (Subaru) (6,912 yen).

The 輝 (Kagayaki) set came with Boiled king crab, Raw king crab sashimi, King crab gratin, Charcoal grilled king crab, Deep fried king crab (Tempura style), King crab sushi, Japanese soup and Dessert.

The 昴 (Subaru) set consist of Assorted crabs Snow crab, King crab, Hair crab, Raw crab sashimi, Kani suki (Crab hot pot) in a paper pot, Crab gratin, Crab sushi, Japanese soup and Dessert.

First up are the boiled crabs

I had them without the sauces as the crabs are sweet enough on their own.

Then the sushi and sashimi

Yum yum~

The crab gratin~

Love gratin! So creamy and delicious~

Charcoal grilled king crab

This one is nice as you grill your own and the crab was surprisingly juicy.

The crab hot pot~

The crab sushi~

King crab tempura

Japanese soup

Desserts - kurin roll cake with matcha ice and match affogato

Crab overload!
Really happy with the meal as the food was good and we were really stuffed at the end.

After that we shopped around Shinjuku for a bit before heading to the Shinjuku Metropolitan Towers for a view of the city.

heehee~

Garden in the city~

焼肉・居酒屋 辛(しん), Funabori

Dinner with colleagues at 焼肉・居酒屋 辛(しん) 船堀駅前店

Address: 東京都江戸川区船堀2-23-9

We ordered many different plates of beef and pork.

Plus a vegetable platter~

Sooo....good!

I somehow enjoyed their marinated beef more than the pork.

We also ordered a cold noodle~

A first for me. It's interesting as it's cold and spicy at the same time.

This was so good, we ordered it a second time.

A note of caution though, when you are grilling fatty meat like the one below, place them at the side of the grill to reduce flames forming.

While the food is good, it is pretty expensive. But it was a good end of the term celebration for us.

Eating Japan -Ice cream series 5

Summer is seriously too hot for me to handle~ Sometimes I wonder if I really came from a tropical country.

When summer first started, I'd have 2 sticks of ice cream every day because it was so hot!

1. Hershey's Crunch choco monaka
I like this because they come in small little packs of 6 so that means you don't have to eat that many calories in one setting. Plus what's not to love about a choco monaka?

Just nice for a quick snack!

2. Morinaga chocolate ice bar with 3 different forms of chocolate
Again, a small stick that I could easily finish in 5 mins. While the chocolate flavour here is not as rich as the more premium chocolate ice cream, it has a nice enough chocolate flavour that doesn't taste weird.

3. PrimeONE shirokuma
Oooo....delicious milk shaved ice with fruits! This one was really expensive and hence, I never bought it again. But I really enjoyed the milky taste of the ice with the sweet fruits~

4. Meiji Orange Soda ice
Another icy ice cream. I just love these icy desserts that can be scooped out and still gives an icy feel.

5. StyleONE tappuri shigure in strawberry flavour
Just plain strawberry kakigori with red bean paste in the centre. Nothing special.

6. PrimeONE ichigo & rennyu
Omg...this was super good!!! Ichigo & rennyu is like the perfect combination so how do you make it better? Turn that into an ice dessert! Sweet and delicious~
