Japanese pottery class

I have always wanted to try pottery and I finally got to do it.

I made a reservation at this school near Fujisawa station.

The inside looks like this. There were only 2 other ladies there when we were there.

For our course, we were told that we will have enough clay to make 2 items per person.

For the first item, we decided to make a small bowl like the one above and the one below is the mold.

First off, a selfie before we start.

We had to flatten the clay.

This was easy as the 2 pieces of stick at the side acted as the guide on how thick the clay should be.

Then we laid it on the mold and cut it out.

Work in progress.

1st bowl done!

Our products will be left there for them to be baked and painted. They will be shipped to us when it is done.

For the second one, we decided to make a coffee/ tea cup.

This here is the completed cup.

After we are done, we were provided with some snacks and green tea.

Overall, it was a really good 90 mins. We had lots of fun and really look forward to how our products will turn out. We received it after about a month. We dd have to pay the parcel delivery fees as it was not included in the course. However, we were happy with the outcome and have been using the items for half a year now.
