焼肉おくう GEMS新横浜店

Back again at 焼肉おくう GEMS新横浜店 (Yakiniku Okuu at GEMS Shin-Yokohama) because their yakiniku is super yummy!

Revisited with J this time for lunch.

We both went for their lunch sets featuring different cut of meats. We have the rib, beef tongue and sirloin.

I'm not particularly fond of the beef tongue as it can be very chewy but I'm ok with the thinly sliced ones. They have a very different texture compared to the other cuts.

Everything was super delicious and we polished off everything.

We also got a small vanilla ice cream at the end of our meal.

Kawasaki Halloween 2018

This year I found out that Kawasaki holds a yearly Halloween costume competition and the cash prize is BIG!!!

As we were there on the day of the contest, the place was packed with people who are all dressed up.

Even the docomo store there has it's employees dressed in a costume.

heehee, at the station, we spotted the cutest Spiderman costume ever.

As you can see in the pictures, there are even some people dressed up as a Starbucks iced latte.

The parade has a specific course and we got a nice spot near the beginning.

All the contestants have to walk along a specific path for the parade.

We were truly impressed by some of the costumes.

I wonder how much these people spent on their costumes. Some of them are really elaborate.

After the parade, some of the people are nice enough to hang around for people to snap pictures with them.

After that, we popped into a cafe nearby for a quick bite.

We had some french toasts and omelette.

I've not been to Shibuya for Halloween but I think Kawasaki is a great place to visit it you just want to have a look at other people's costumes as there is probably less crowd and less dangerous.

This ojisan here has one of my favourite costume of the day! Very innovative~ and I wondered if he made it himself.

Kawasaki Warehouse

At Kawasaki, there is a place called Kawasaki Warehouse.

You can easily spot the building from afar and as you get nearer you see this Kowloon sign. I guess they were trying to imitate the Kowloon walled city.

The entrance looks spooky and we definitely got a shocked when the door opened automatically.

As you enter, you get this spooky feel that you're entering an old building.

There is also a speaker that plays sounds of the market and people speaking in cantonese.

Any idea where does this path leads to?

The parking lot.

Everything here was made to look old and dirty intentionally.

On the second floor, there's an area that imitates a food court.

This here has got to be the ugliest looking vending machine in the whole of Japan.

As we move further in, we found the arcade area which didn't really had that many people there at that time.

Overall, it's a pretty interesting place to visit if you are in the area as it definitely doesn't feel like Japan there.

Kappa Sushi, Kawasaki

I was pretty excited to try out Kappa sushi as I've never tried it before.

We visited the one in Atre, Kawaski and there was already a queue outside when we arrived.

Unlike the usual conveyor belt sushi shop, the belt here is only used for delivering food to your table so you have to ordered everything through the ipad that's on the table.

They have a lot of interesting options for those who are not interested in fish.

While the sushi may be cheap they taste is pretty good.

When we were visited, Kappa sushi were having a collaboration with Due Italian, which is famous for their ham and cheese ramen. So we decided to order a bowl to try too and it was definitely interesting to have fromage in your ramen.

Lastly, we had some ice cream to end the meal!

SALON BAKE&TEA

I've been wanting to try SALON BAKE&TEA in Shinjuku ever since I read about it on a Japanese site.

You have 2 options, the cake set which comes at 2600 yen and the salon style set which comes at 2900 yen. We opted for the cake set which comes with the order buffet and drinks.

They have a good selection of Theodor tea for you to choose from.

At the beginning, we were each allowed to order 3 cakes from their menu. You are only allowed to order more when you've finished your order.

Other than cakes, there are also savoury items like bread and quiche.

You also pick your choice of bread from a list that's placed on the table. You can also request for more jam and even tuna mayo.

I guess this list differs depending on the day as it's filled in with pen on paper. For the quiche and tarte, they will be served to you once they are baked.

This was our first set. Absolutely loved everything here!!! The only problem was because everything is made of sugar, you get full pretty quickly.

The dacquoise was so good, we ordered it again the second round.

Meanwhile, we also had more bread with tuna mayo.

While we were savouring on those, the quiche and tarte were ready to be served. I absolutely love the pear tarte, it was super delicious!!!

You can also request for extra quiche and tarte.

This is our last dessert order. By this time, we were already super bloated!

Overall, I really like everything that were served to us but be prepared to be extremely bloated for the next few hours!

I noticed that some ladies on the other tables did not touch the bread served, probably to keep their stomach space for the cakes. Honestly, it's such a waste, they should've just declined the bread if they're not gonna eat them. Anyways, the bread were delicious so I enjoyed them.
