Shimoda Tokyu Hotel (下田東急ホテル)

After our trip to the aquarium, we decided to talk to Perry Road instead of waiting for the bus.

The thing about travelling to the countryside using public transportation is that it is not as convenient as having your own car.

The famous Perry Road (ペリーロード) was scenic but the area was smaller that expected.

This must be the Hinarame River, based on this website.

There were some izakaya in the area but as we were there at an odd hour, they were not open yet.

There weren't many tourists and hence, you can enjoy a leisure walk around the area.

From there, we walked back to the station and caught the free bus to our hotel - Shimoda Tokyu Hotel (下田東急ホテル).

Our room faces the car park instead of the sea.

The service provided was top notch. We were guided to our room by a super friendly ojisan with a translator. He asked where we're from and tried to welcome us in Malay.

We were pleasantly surprised by how accurate the translation was as it was almost immediate and they have both the words and vocals. That is such a convenient tool. All you need to do is select the language you want to translate Japanese to.

We were there at the end of summer and got to use the pool on the 2nd last day before it closes.

Here's a view of the pool at night. Behind this area is the sea. We're situated on top of a hill and the sea is right below.

This is the hallway to the room.

The room is clean.

I'm glad that we have a bathroom with a bathtub even though there is an onsen area in this hotel.

Here are the amenities.

I like how they have a nice hot water dispenser for making tea with.

They provided some welcome cookies too.

The hotel gift shop actually sells these green tea cookies too.

I had some snacks prepared for the night.

I bought this red bean bread with chestnut from a local shop which was supposed to be famous among the locals there. And it was really good!

I also bought this sweet potato cake for dessert. It really tasted like sweet potato but it was super filling and hence, we couldn't finish it.

This hotel has an interesting layout. The lobby and restaurant area is located on the 3rd floor. And we need to travel to the 1st floor to access the onsen, garden and pool.

This is the entrance to the female onsen area. This are lockers for your slippers.

The dressing area is mall but sufficient.

Overall, the onsen area is not bad. There is an outdoor one which I really enjoyed. You can even see the aquarium from there as we were high up on the hill.
