Shimodakaichu Aquarium (下田海中水族館)

Visiting the Shimodakaichu Aquarium (下田海中水族館) for the first time.

Right at the entrance of the aquarium is this!

This tank here has a few big turtles in them and while they are within reach, there's a sign that tells visitors not to touch them.

You can see that they are huge!!!! And it's nice to be able to see them this up close.

This aquarium has many different shows throughout the day. One good thing is that as there are less people, you get to enjoy the shows upclose.

As the name suggests, this is a floating aquarium. Can you see the white object there? That's the centre piece of this aquarium.

Visit the website for more information: https://shimoda-aquarium.com/

While we were there, a few of the attractions were closed due to bad weather. I will definitely want to return for those.

This here are the teeth of catshark. Never knew that they looked like this.

There is even a fish that is the one and only in Japan~

Hello, Giganthias immaculatus~

We caught the dolphon show which was really enjoyable as we were really close. I've never sat this up front before.

After that, we went to a show featuring seals. J even got the chance to go on stage and participate in an act.

There was even a session on feeding the stingrays.

Overall, I had a lot of fun here even though the place was old and not as pretty as other aquariums in Japan. While everything is not as shiny or pretty, the shows are pretty amazing and as there are less people, you get to sit up close and enjoy the show better.

There is even an area where you can swim with the dolphins and I am interested in trying that in the future.
