Hanbok experience at Hanboknam

Using out discover Seoul pass, we rented a set of hanbok and Hanboknam for some pictures at the palace.

The Doscover Seoul Pass allows us to us the pass for train as well as use it to enter several attractions for free so it was definitely worth getting it!

Don't forget to bring your passports as they will be required when you rent the hanbok. Free lockers are provided so you can leave your normal clothes and bags in them

After changing into our hanbok, we went Gyeongbokgung which is nearby hanboknam for pictures.

I guess entrance to the palace is free as there were no ticket counters and no one asking to check our tickets.

There were many tourists there who were all dressed in the korean traditional costume.

I guess we were pretty lucky as there was this change of guards ceremony as we arrived.

The workers there will set up a barrier so that the audiences can watch from the side.

Actually, the underdress of the hanbok was pretty dirty and some parts were falling apart. However, you can't see it as the hanbok covers up the underdress and the underdress is required to give the hanbok it's shape. Overall, I'm pretty happy as the service is free and very easy to use.

While the hanbok is not as elaborate as the kimono, it looks great on picture.

Plus, I'm happy that I didn't have to have this thick and tight layer on my waist.

And, you also get to move freely in the hanbok, which is great if you want to cover a big distance quickly.

With the Discover Seoul pass, we only had 90 mins so we had to move around quickly to make good use of our time.

From Hanboknam, it's a short walk to the back entrance.

I actually liked the back area more as there are less tourists.

So you get to take pictures slowly.

Plus there is no one else to photobomb your pictures.

The back area also have more buildings or places to explore.

There is this fruit garden which I really liked because you get to take pictures with the kampong feel. LOL~

Not sure what are these drums here for, but they make a great photo spot!

I also like this area where they had statues of all the animal signs~

Then there's this area with kampong houses too! Complete kampong feel here~ :D

A very nice tourist volunteered to help us take this pic. heehee....can see that we are wearing sport shoes.

Overall, I highly recommend the hanbok experience because the hanbok is very pretty and you can take a lot of nice pictures to remember the trip.
